Chapter 18: In the scope of things

Maxixe saw that Kaoma was wearing only a thin muslin shift when she shivered in his arms from the cool night air.

The last thing he wanted was for her to catch a cold while they were on the run.

Her current bedroom wasn't as dark as the room she kept at Castle Hellshire and for that she had his appreciation.

At the foot of her bed he spotted a wooden trunk and looked through it until he found a soft sable cloak.

She was still out cold even as he tilted her neck and buttoned a few buttons down to her waist.

Before he felt fully satisfied that his property was decently covered.

Elton gave him a look as if to say weren't you just complaining about time being of the essence earlier.

Maxixe just ignored him and slipped on the matching sable slippers and made a dainty bow with the shoe strings. 

To distract the people from following them his men had already set fire to a few strategic places.
