"Is that so?" Xu Jingli whispered.

Chen Mumu nodded, but found herself without words as Xu Jingli's gaze softened, his dark eyes filled with a warmth she hadn't seen before. Something in the air made them both hesitate, locked in the moment.

Chen Mumu felt at ease in Xu Jingli's arms, and Xu Jingli, in turn, didn't seem to want her to leave. They stayed like this, simply gazing at each other, a quiet comfort settling between them.
