Seated next to Queen Acedalia late in the night, I narrated to the kids about the past secrets of the royal court. 

“Randale, your father, Hemming Godric, was my eldest brother. He was destined to be the King of the West. Unfortunately, he was set up by the royal court members who wanted to see him fail. A war broke out and he was sent to the border. During the attack, he was injured and his Lycan powers diminished. I was next in line to the throne. I refused at first.” 

I sighed at the painful memories that rose to the surface.
