Chapter 50: Don't court trouble, Kitten

I told Rico I would drop by today, but I did not expect him to be waiting for me downstairs when I arrive. 

He breaks into a smile when he sees me, as if he can't believe it's me. 

"You didn't have to wait here," I tease as I pull him into a hug. I've missed him so much. He lets me hug him for about ten times the amount of time he would usually agree to, and he even lets me ruffle his hair.

"Is it just me or have you grown taller?" I raise a brow. He's not eighteen yet but is starting to tower over me. 

"Nah, you are just shorter." He laughs. 

I playfully punch his shoulder. "You little punk." 

We are excited as we go up to our apartment, but that's until I come face to face with Mother. 

I go over to her and give her a brief hug. "Hi, Mother. I came to visit." 

As usual, she doesn't say anything, but her face expresses a lot.
