Chapter 127: A New Foe Or Friend

The man had a warm smile on his face. Though he had the same eyes, face, and body, the man looked completely different from the creepy one she had met before.

"I apologize for leaving you alone in the room. Were you scared?" He took a step closer and asked warmly, "The room could be scary for an unfamiliar visitor. Since I have kept many strange things there for research."

Mary stared at the man and then at Nicholas. She did not remember Nicholas having any allies. Especially of the kind.

"He is a researcher. He is studying poisons. The snakes are his. Since he had a habit of leaving them freely often, my knights and I made sure to tread that area carefully. I didn't know you sneaked in there." As if reading her doubts and fear, Nicholas came forward and held her hands.

He scolded her with a frown but his touch was assured. Mary finally turned her gaze away from the man and nodded.
