Chapter 45: Chapter 44: Steps toward richness

Lireesa carried Lina to the dining hall and waited for her two daughters. They ate lunch together with relish but Lireesa wasn't one of them. Although high elves indulged in pleasure and food was the important component of their enjoyment, Lireesa's tongue was insatiable especially when she had eaten various delicious cuisines in her previous life. Her heart always told the food here didn't bring satisfaction for her. She looked at her daughters who appeared to fancy every meal on the table. She understood the elven food were more delicious compared to human race and felt very fortunate to transmigrate into Lireesa even if it were the wrong gender.

"Mother. Anything wrong?" Sylvanas interrupted after seeing Lireesa froze. The fact that she never heard what the delegate from the capital said to her mother, worried Sylvanas and her mother's reaction now triggered her suspicions. Vereesa, raised her head and looked confused at her mother. "I saw you staying still. You can tell us if you encounter problems. You know I'm not young anymore."

Lireesa regained her conscious and Sylvanas's care surprised her, when the usual mischievous kid was gone and replaced by leadership behavior. Lireesa's doubtful look trivialized Sylvanas's anxiety and drove away also her reservations. Sylvanas knew her mother was plotting something serious and resumed her meal. Guilt took over Lireesa as she now figured out the reason for Sylvanas change, because as someone with the highest IQ among the sisters which Lireesa couldn't help but notice, Sylvanas had a higher chance of interpreting Lireesa's actions and built her own hypothesis. Sylvanas was also preparing for her family's survival based on the reason Lireesa sent Alleria to war earlier than it was supposed to.

Lireesa focused her attention back on previous contemplation. Since food enjoyment was high in Quel'Thalas, food industry was the easiest road to prosperity. As a university student during her previous life, she was capable to cook for herself. Although the variety of dish she could cook was not too many, Lireesa had confidence the recipes she had now were most likely to get the hit. Lireesa as a lord could simply show her recipes to her cooks and carried on her plans. Moreover, she had some general ideas of different countries' recipes and could ask her cook to experiment. Success was very high. The only first obstacle to overcome was the spice. Different regions used various spices, not to mention Lireesa was now in another universe in a distinct planet. She hoped the spice consumed here weren't diverse in their properties.

Lireesa stopped her thoughts and finished her lunch. Sylvanas relaxed after watching her mother return back to normal. Ella soon entered and teased: "It appears lord is forgetful, forgetting her servant working hard in place of the lord. Servant has to run back lest the lord forgets my meal."

Ella caressed herself with the back of her hand and spoke in a seductive tone. The whole picture quietened the group on the desk. Sylvanas had her mouth wide open. Vereesa dropped her food from the mouth. Lina seemed to be the most normal here. She looked weirdly at her strange aunt and refocused on the meals. Lireesa this time choked hard and her face turn livid, paling from lack of breath. Out of everyone, only Ella realized her dangerous situation and sprinted toward her. She slapped Lireesa back hard and rescued the infamous ranger-general from suffocating food to her death. Otherwise, Lireesa was embarrassed; history would remind every future generation to avoid losing concentration during the meal.

At the same time, Lireesa foresaw parents telling their children, "Remember General Lireesa, she died because of food. Even the great hero could die from choking. Not to mention you little kids."

"Kids, have you heard the story of general Lireesa? Remember don't have other thoughts during eating. Or else you'll follow her footsteps."

"General Lireesa was powerful. Trolls were nothing in front of her. But she still fell because she lost her mind during eating."

Lireesa imagined herself becoming the epitome of moral lessons for young children to empower their concentrations whatever they were doing. The pictures dazzled her eyes. Ella nudged her shoulders with worries in her eyes. Lireesa came back to light and signed she survived the beauty calamity. Sylvanas and Vereesa were all stunned by Ella's coquettish operations, completely diverse from her usual conduct. They also lost their minds until Ella palmed harsh on Lireesa's back several times and the slaps instantly brought them back to the dangers her mother faced. After Lireesa was rescued out of danger, the previous panic turned into amusement for her daughters.

"Ella, your behavior nearly killed us. I never expected eating will threaten my life." Lireesa beated her chest and stammered out. Her heart still throbbed from her sense of entering the death door. It was never a good feeling, even if she had entered before. Of course, she could have struck her own chest and vomited the food, but Ella's performance numbed her brainpower. "When do you change into such a way. I mean what were you thinking."

"Well, I saw your drama with the messengers and found you were having fun," Ella said while rubbing her head with an innocent face. Her expression told everyone—she wasn't guilty, don't blame me. "So, I figure I also try it out on you. Who knows you can't even stand my performance and the whole stage is over before it starts. You're okay now, right?"

Good guy. The game was good nearly GG your lord. Lireesa thought.

So, the root cause was embarrassingly Lireesa herself, because she played too much. Her influence on Ella was not small, as she discovered staging drama entertained her boring life. Who knew as soon as she tried, she had to save her friend's life first. Lireesa wondered if Ella's acting was the retribution from heaven, punishing her for messing around the young man before. No wonder his expression persevered to control his outburst from Lireesa bantering acts.

Lireesa glanced around and saw her two older daughters shaking her body. She glared at them and warned them, this wasn't over for them. Sylvanas raised her head and her mouth burst out laughing while Vereesa sniffled in by bending over the table. Ella was covering her mouth while she took her own seat. It was a rainy day for her for sure. She looked outside but the sky didn't give her any face. It luminated her background and taunted her mercilessly.

Sky: "...?"

At last, her lovely daughter raised her eyes at Lireesa in confusion and adoration sparked in her heart. Her Lina was the best. She hugged Lina and kissed her cheeks amidst her daughter's confusion.

When she turned her gaze toward her own maids, their actions triggered her eyelids crooked. All of them lifted their chins and stared straight at the ceilings, avoiding any mishaps from coming toward them. Gods fought; mortals suffered. The situation in front of them was no different lest Lireesa targeted them and increased their workloads. They also craved giggling but they intended to direct their attention elsewhere to prevent themselves from losing control. Their poor expression made Lireesa signed. She said to herself, forget it. My shame couldn't be rescued any longer. Let it be.

"Laugh if you want. Don't control yourself." Lireesa sneered at her maids. "I don't want any of my maids to suffocate from laughter." Laughter and cheers rang in the dining hall and it took some time before the fun subsides. Lireesa asked them to prepare lunch for Ella too. The event soon passed with time.

"Sister Ella, actually you shouldn't seduce me. If I weren't choking, I would definitely lose control and do something unthinkable." Lireesa tantalized Ella, twitching her eyebrows.

"It doesn't matter. You can try whether you can tolerate the consequences of relenting to my temptations." Ella grinned creepily with her white teeth shown in victory symbol. Lireesa moved away from her menacing smirk. She really dared not. "Coward. You only bully others. You and Sena were the same type."

Lireesa ignored her taunt and said, "Our butler of Windrunner looks good in any form. Just be yourselves."

Lireesa raised her thumbs up. After the lunch, Sylvanas took her sister away and bantered around outside, while Lireesa brought Ella to her room and discussed her plans. The discussion ended after one hour and Ella came out groping her forehead. But her face was excited in expectation for the Windrunner's upcoming future. Their conversation was about the first initiative for the Windrunner family to enter business. Usually, the family earned money from their shares in some industry cooperating with great house of nobility and royal families. It never produced excess amount of money for them to spend. Now, Lireesa decided to open the restaurant solely by her own Windrunner house. Before that, she must ask her Windrunner chefs to try out her recipe and let them predict the success of her idea.

Lireesa called her maid to summon them and waited for a while. Soon, there was a knock and several chefs entered. She asked them to take a seat and began her explanations. The chefs would nod from time to time. They also sometimes suddenly stood up and their eager eyes caused Lireesa to sweat because they gawked at her like some food they wanted to dissect and savor. Lireesa quickened her speech and probed whether the spices and ingredients necessary could be found nearby. Their replies relieved her worry, as her fief also had farmlands and plantations Lireesa never considered nor remembered in her mind. Her predecessor as a military maniac most of the time, had her all concentration on fighting always.

As a former person from capitalistic state, Lireesa couldn't live without making money. She understood war costed money. Her literal and simplest description of war was to throw money at each other. Hence, her priority now was to earn. Now all that's remaining for her plan was the test results of her competent chefs. She trusted them and yearned for the good news soon.
