Chapter 147: 147. Tending to her wound

"Elaine?" He called again because she had not responded all this while.

"I... I'm not... naked." She stuttered, bringing her leg down to hide her foot. And that was when she saw the trail of blood leading out of the bathroom. Her eyes widened when she saw the amount of blood pooled beneath her where she sat. There was no way she could hide that while he was standing in front of her.

Slowly, Hayford lowered the bed sheet. He was facing the shower since he thought that was where she was. His eyes searched and found her sitting dejectedly on the toilet seat.

Elaine looked up at him with a racing heart. 

"What happened to you?" He quickly walked towards her, folding the sheet.

"I... I just... tripped a little and... ripped open the wound on my foot."

He hanged the folded sheet on the towel rod and squatted to her level.
