Chapter 16: Chapter Fifteen

Leaning against the seat of Aizawa's car you gazed mindlessly out the window. The car filled with a warm silence you were drove through the city, buildings and trees past you in a mesmerizing ballet.

Aizawa couldn't stop glancing over to you, this was all to surreal to him. He stood at your funeral; he was one of the six who lifted your coffin. He held back the flood of tears as you were lowered six feet into the earth.

Yet here you sit.

So many words wanted to spill from his lips, he wanted so badly to express the pain you left behind, the urge was almost uncontrollable but he forced himself to allow silence to grace the car. He felt a thick tension vibrating off your skin, he couldn't understand why his nerves were on edge, he knew you. He knew the kind hearted person you were so why did it feel as if he was sitting beside a villain?

Taking a breath so deep your lungs expanded until they ached, you felt gravity pushing against your shoulders, leaving you feeling vacant. Your eyes ached as you watched the colors of the city blur, shifting into your seat you tried to ease the pressure brewing in your shoulder allowing the seatbelt slide upward.

Instantly your hand flew to your neck, a cocktail of fresh rage sliced with annoyance flowed through you like a title wave. Your cold fingers wrapped around the seatbelt brushing against your neck. You allowed it to snap back against your chest, all the while your eyes never leaving the cemetery-colored blur filling your passenger window.

Aizawa's eyes narrowed, seeing the display but said nothing as more questions brewed inside his skull. Were you still the kind hearted girl he knew?

Aizawa's home was similar to him, effortless and clean. You stood in the doorway staring into the simple layout.

"I know it's not like All Might's-" Aizawa's lazed voice filled the space between you. "-but it's home." He slipped on a pair of slippers before walking into the house. Your eyes glanced over to the unlocked front door.

"Meow." Your head turned, spotting the feline staring at you from the safety distance brings.

"I found her stranded in the rain-" Aizawa's voice picked your head up, he knelled down scratching the creature behind her ear. "-she doesn't bite."

You did.

When you didn't respond or move to remove your boots, Aizawa breathed through his noes directing you down the hall to an open door which now acted as your room.

"I know it's not much-" Aizawa muttered rubbing the back of his neck. "-Midnight picked out some clothes for you. We can go to the store after the meeting and grab a few things if you want..." Aizawa felt awkward, not knowing which words to pick out when addressing you.

Once again, you didn't feel a need to reply.

"The bathroom is a few doors down the hall next to my room. The uh-" He gestured to the GPS monitor. "-anklet is waterproof so you can take a shower."

Aizawa studied you as you gazed around the room, he shifted feet before clearing this throat.

"I'm going to make dinner." He proclaimed the tension having been to much, leaving you alone in the unfamiliar room with nothing but your bullying thoughts to accompany you. You walked to the foot of the bed, brushing your gloved fingers over the material of the clothes neatly folded. You blinked, taking another deep breath looking out the window seeing the rain drip.

Ignoring the fluffy blankets, you gritted your teeth as you maneuvered to lie down. The gun shot on your shoulder was proving it be a nuisance.

You hung your feet over the edge of the bed, feeling a strange sense to not dirty Aizawa's clean sheets with your boots. The moment you sighed your muscles collapsed, feeling them loosen against the soft mattress your eyes closed on their own, dropping you into a shallow pool of sleep.

Aizawa after an hour wondered to your room. He thought for sure the smell of a homecooked meal would draw you out, he could only imagine how long it's been since you had a real meal.

He stood in the doorway discovering you had fallen asleep. He quietly tiptoed into the room, picking up the blanket placed at the foot of the bed he draped it over you. Aizawa didn't understand the need to leave on your uniform or why you didn't seem to want to remove your shoes, but for now, he just wanted you to rest.

Aizawa shoved his hands into his pants pockets, eyes going soft watching you take in steady breaths as you slept. Aizawa felt an urge to remove that stupid mask from your face, but he knew better. Aizawa shook his head, still unable to wrap his mind around you being alive after all this time. Aizawa's fingers twitched at the thought of getting his hands around Shooters neck.

----

A knock on the door pulled Aizawa's gaze from reading on the couch, he wasn't expecting any guests. The nerves along his shoulders tensed as he made his way to the front door. No one knew you were assigned to him, he was careful to not let anyone see you leave with him. He even took extra turns on the way here making sure no one was following.

Who the hell was at his door this late!?

"What the-?" Aizawa blinked, his guard dropping upon seeing a damp All Might standing on his porch. "-what are you doing here?"

"(y/n) is here, right?" All Might questioned, peeking over Aizawa's shoulder.

"How did you know she was assigned to me?" Aizawa wondered, not moving to allow the blond to scurry into the house.

"Ah well-" All Might lightly chuckled, "- Naomasa-"

"Of course." Aizawa sighed with a disapproval nod he gave his students.

"So-" All Might glanced inside the warm glow of the home.

"Don't make me do this..." Aizawa breathed, chest clenching.

"Do what?" All Might frowned as his brows pulled together. The two teachers stared at one another, the light rain trickled around them. "You're-You're not going to-"

"I can't-" Aizawa exhaled feeling the emotional toll the day has taken on him. "-you know this-"

"You can't do this!" All Might ignored Aizawa's words, "I am her father! I have a right-!"

"No one is allowed to visit until she is debriefed at the meeting tomorrow." Aizawa calmy explained.

"She is my daughter-!"

"If Eizo found out I allowed you to see her before the debriefing it could destroy her case-"

"I haven't seen her in years-!" All Might shakes his head tears pressed against his eyes, all logic abounded. "-I will see my-"

"You always do this." Aizawa interrupted, heat bubbled in his chest.

"Uh-What do I always do-?"

"You always come in and take over-" Aizawa's voice became provoked. "-not caring about the ones you step on."

"Aizawa what are you-?"

"I care about her too!" Aizawa stepped forward, allowing the door to slowly close behind him. "I was there in the fight with Shadow Jack, I sat with her in the hospital right beside you! But you do what you do best and take over, you didn't even give me the courtesy of telling me you were going to adopt her, I had to find out from Midnight a week later."

"I-I didn't know you had-"

"You never do." Aizawa pressed, "You never think about anyone else, it's always you, the number one hero!"

"Aizawa-"

"No one can visit (y/n)-" Aizawa's voice was mechanical. "-until she is debriefed."

"Aizawa-!" All Might went to stop the U.A. teacher from entering his home but Aizawa ignored the plea, allowing the door to slam shut in his face, leaving All Might standing outside in the cold rainy night.

Aizawa huffed, head leaning against the door as guilt fizzed inside his chest before turning around, only to freeze seeing you leaning against the wall.

"(y/n)." Aizawa breathed, his eyes flickered to the front door as his heart felt hot honey thick guilt dripping into his stomach. "If you want...I'll let him in-" He wasn't able to finish his sentence, you had already kicked yourself off the wall walking away, following the faded scent of food.

Aizawa warmed up his homecooked meal. You were placed at his four-person dinner table while you waited for him to serve dinner. Aizawa sat two plates down before taking the seat adjacent to you. You stared at the steaming food, feeling your mouth salivate at the smells wafting through your mask.

Aizawa was four bites in before looking over, seeing your free arm resting in your lap as you stared mindlessly at your plate. Aizawa sat his fork down, his soft heart and strong mind tried to calculate why you weren't eating, he could hear the growling in your stomach. His eyes divvied from your mask to your plate before returning to his own. Aizawa clicked his tongue before rising to his feet, the sound instinctively drew your eye to him.

He pulled on his chair spinning it around, facing it away from the table before retaking his seat. Your narrowed eyes stared at the back of his head, his plate sitting in his lap as he continued to eat his dinner.

Aizawa stared a head, chewing his food as a grin spread across his face, hearing your cutlery being picked up. Every fiber inside his body wanted to spin around and gaze upon your foreign face, but he didn't want to break this thread of trust between you and him. Plus, Aizawa wondered how long it had been since you shared a meal with someone.
