Chapter 49: Royal Marriage
Today the atmosphere in the Hwon kingdom is busier than usual. There is a royal festival held by the people of the Hwon kingdom in the market. Not much different from the bustle of the market, the atmosphere in the palace seemed busy. Several palace maids were pacing back and forth to prepare for the big event that was being held that day while the guards seemed to be on standby to keep an eye on the surroundings. They are all happy to welcome the royal wedding party.
Hwon Palace is located on a hill with a height of ten meters above the ground. The houses of the residents of the Hwon kingdom are under the hill surrounding the palace building. The height of the Hwon palace building reaches forty meters with five main floors and a basement. The stones used to build the palace are dominated by white stones.
King Woon was observing the bustle around his palace from the third floor. He stood quietly in his solitude in a palace passage behind a glassless window. The man was holding a thin, white rectangular object in his right hand. It has a black screen without any image, it was Dan Oh's cell phone that had been dropped while they were fighting against Binju. Without realizing it Dan Oh had dropped her cellphone near Woon before disappearing. The king twirled the cellphone with his fingers. His gaze wandered far into the crowd of Hwon's kingdom.
"Your Majesty...." Woon turned his head when someone called him and found Ryu was standing behind him. The man who always looked childish and liked to play around seemed more mature and calm now. He wore the commander's clothes which showing his pride.
"The guests from the kingdoms of Sung and Dam have arrived, their entourage has arrived to congratulate the royal wedding today," continued the commander-in-chief.
"Okay, I'll meet them after this" said the king in response to the commander's words as well as his best friend with a huge smile.
"Oh yeah, when are you going to get married with Key? You've already proposed her, right? Hurry up, I heard a lot of men want to marry her" asked Woon to his best friend. Ryu felt awkward when talking about it, he rubbed the nape of his neck and smiled stiffly.
".....I'm not sure if senior wants to marry someone like me..." Ryu said weakly. It was the first time Ryu showed his insecure side in front of other people. The man who has always been confident and never thought about what other people think of him becomes someone who has a lot of anxiety when it comes to Key.
"Ask her... You won't know until you ask, right? Would not you regret it to seeing her marry another man...? It would be better if you two got married today" said Woon give his warning toward his best friend. He doesn't want Ryu to feel the same regret when he got to see the woman he loves together with someone else .
"it's impossible for us to get married today, your highness, after all this is the princess wedding, a royal wedding" Ryu replied respectfully.
"Cch... It doesn't make any difference, all of you are the leaders of this country. You have fought to save this planet with all your soul and body. You should get an award for it all" said the king smiling broadly.
"Thank you Your Majesty..." Ryu had already received many awards for all of that, but hearing the king again bring this up made him feel very grateful.
"But... May I ask you something?" asked Ryu who looked a little doubtful.
"Sure ...." Woon replied casually.
"When will... His Majesty the King get marry?" asked the commander-in-chief at the end.
Woon was silent for a moment after listening to the question Ryu threw at him. The king then lowered his head with a faint smile. Woon turned his back from Ryu and looked back into the distance to see his kingdom though out the hallway window. He lowered his body and rested his hands on the bottom of the waist-high window using his elbows.
"You know Ryu.... During my entire life, I have fallen in love with two different women, but right now neither of them are present by my side. Neither of them are in the same world as me. Do you think I can fall in love again and get married?" said the king looking at the cellphone that he was playing with his fingers with a sad face. He show a small smile to hide the wound in his Heart again. Ryu was silent and didn't say anything while listening to the king's words.
"How is that woman over there?" Woon muttered under his breath as he thought of Dan Oh and looked up into the sky.
"Your Majesty... There is one thing that makes me feel confused...." Ryu said from behind Woon's back.
"what's that?" Woon asked as he straightened his body again and faced Ryu.
"That thing... The thing which belongs to princess Dan Oh, how come it can still be in this dimension and not disappear to Earth? Does that mean there's still another link between our dimension and Earth dimension?" said the commander try to make a guessing. Woon was silent for a moment.
"Actually, I also thought about it that way, that's why at the board of directors meeting I handed over the throne of this kingdom to my sister...." replied the king of the strongest kingdom on Mirac planet.
"I will leave the palace" he continued later.
"What?" Ryu asked and surprised to hear the king's words. He never predicted that Woon would decide to step down from his throne and leave the palace at such a young age. Woon recalls what happened at the royal board of directors meeting one week earlier.
"I'm sorry for having to gather all of you in a short notice like this, there is an important thing I want to announce to you before telling this to the public," said King Woon to the members of the royal directors who were re-formed after the state of the kingdom began to stabilize.
There were about seventeen important members of the various staff present at the meeting. Woon sat on the main bench as the chair of the meeting while Siera sat beside him. Everyone seemed to be exchanging glances and guessing what their new king would say that day.
"I will leave the kingdom and hand over the crown of this throne to my sister" the king's words surprised everyone who was present in the room, including Siera who was the subject of her brother's conversation.
"What do you mean my king?" Siera asked for not understand in his word.
Woon had never discussed this with the woman before. The king's sudden announcement made the princess confused.
"I want to spend my time for traveling around, there are things I want to look for out there. I can't possibly do all of that while still being the king of this kingdom. That's why I choose my sister as the new queen who will lead this kingdom. This is my last order as a king of this country," said Woon, closing the statement he made.
The members of the board of directors seemed to be whispering to each other to voice their opinions, but none of them dared go against the king's wishes.
On the other hand there was concern in Siera's heart to take over the leadership of the kingdom from Woon, but she also couldn't say anything to hold back her brother's departure. She knew exactly what Woon wanted and what he was looking for, Siera was able to guess that. And she couldn't stop him from fulfilling his wish because Siera wanted her brother to live happily by being with the person he loved.
"Do any of you wish to protest my sister's appointment as the queen of this kingdom?" Woon asked when he saw the members of the board of directors still looked doubtful and whispered to each other. They fell silent when the king asked that, but one of them finally expressed his concern on behalf of the other members.
"Please forgive me Your Majesty, we do not doubt the leadership of the princess at all. We have witnessed how the princess has been raised since childhood as the leader of this country, but we are worried... What will happen to this kingdom when the princess who has served as queen marries the king of Dam kingdom? Shouldn't your highness also carry out her duties as the queen of our friend's kingdom?" asked the representative of the board of directors. Woon was silent, actually it waz also appeared in his mind but he also didn't know how to find a solution for this.
"I will terminate my marriage with Eros" said the princess finally willing to give her voice for the case they were facing right there.
This time it was Woon who was surprised when he heard his sister's words. Meanwhile, the other members of the board of directors also seemed shocked by this. Everyone knows how the two kingdoms of Hwon and Dam are connected because of the engagement between the two royal descendants, and everyone also knows how harmonious the relationship between the two was. Everyone was sure that Siera would soon marry Eros considering that the two kingdoms had stabilized. Of course, Siera's words of wanting to suddenly cancel their marriage was something that had never crossed their minds.
"Then are you going to rule this kingdom as the sole queen? What about the fate of the royal lineage?" the other members started to voice their opinion.
"I'm getting married....with Gwi" Siera's words made everyone in the room look surprised again.
"Wasn't commander Gwi has long dissapear? Is he even alive?" asked another member of the board.
Siera smiled then asked one of the people in the room to call Gwi who was outside the meeting room. In no time the werewolf entered the room and walked towards Woon and Siera. He paid his respects to Woon the king whom he had not seen for a long time and asked how he was, then stood right behind Siera. Of course Woon was very happy for the man's return to the kingdom.
"As you can see, Gwi is here... Therefore I will marry him and hold our wedding ceremony in a week" said Siera casually.
Gwi as a new person in the room did not know at all what the Hwon royal board member had discussed. But he was able to clearly hear the words of Siera, the woman he had loved had just announced that she would marry him. Of course Gwi was happy to hear that, but he also couldn't hide his surprised expression. They had never talked about this before. At that time Siera only asked him to return to her side as her loyal commander, the woman never asked Gwi to marry her.
"But Your Majesty, maybe our society will feel insecure if commander Gwi becomes the king of this country. Isn't he a...?" the words of the members of the board of directors could not be continued because the princess was immediately cut him off.
"Werewolf?" Siera asked the man coldly. The middle-aged man could only gulp when he saw Siera's threatening expression. He was unable to continue his speech.
"Yeah right, Gwi is a werewolf. But has he ever hurt you? Or... Has he ever threatened the safety of your family?" Siera looked so intimidating that everyone in the room fell silent in fear. Woon smiled faintly seeing how his sister never changed and always managed to make other people feel intimidated with her presence, while Gwi just stayed where he was and looked at Siera's back.
"Commander Gwi is one of the heroes who has brought the independence of this kingdom back from Binju's hands. For hundreds of years he was the strongest commander in this kingdom, wouldn't you feel safe if there was a strong king like Gwi guarding the Hwon kingdom?" asked Woon to strengthen his sister's argument.
The statement from the princess that was strengthened by the king made everyone in the room no longer able to fight the two. Finally the meeting was closed with Woon's statement that he would install Siera and Gwi as the new queen and king after their wedding ceremony one week later.
"Woon...." called Siera when everyone had left. Now only Siera, Gwi and Woon are walking together in the royal garden. Woon turned his face to his sister with a smile.
"Are you sure about all of this? Honestly, I'm starting to doubt my ability to lead this kingdom," said Siera expressing her concern.
She is always confident and believes that no one else is better than her in leading the Hwon kingdom. However, from the series of events that had happened to them, Siera was no longer convinced by her thoughts.
"Of course, what makes you doubt it my sister?" asked Woon with tenderness and understanding to his only sibling. Siera took a deep breath before answering her brother's question.
"Do you remember what Elmo said back then? Crystal elemental power can be controlled by royal descendants to protect their nation. That power comes from a sincere heart to service the nation... But from the start I wasn't able to bring out that power..." Siera was silent for a moment . Woon and Gwi looked at each other before finally focusing their attention back on the woman.
"Isn't that the proof that I don't have the sincerity to protect this kingdom? All of this time I was only thinking about how to rule and I was busy proving myself worthy to be the leader, but until the end I was not able to bring out the power of the elements from within me? Isn't that right? Is that a proof that I don't have the heart as the leader of this nation?" Siera finally expressed her concern about the future of the kingdom if it were to be ruled by a queen like her.
How could she rule this kingdom if she didn't care about her people sincerely? The concern that Siera expressed made Woon and Gwi smile. They don't know since when, but now Siera has become more frequent in expressing her feelings and not just putting forward her logical mind. It seems that all the things that have happened so far have made the woman begin to understand the importance of using her heart in life.
"My dear sister.... The fact that you have questioned and worried about it is a proof that you have a heart that deserves to lead this kingdom. I'm sure you can be the leader of this kingdom as good as our parents used to be" said Woon encouraging his older sister that. On the other hand, Gwi also grabbed Siera's hand and held it tightly. He smiled sincerely at the woman.
"I'm sure there is no a better person who can lead this kingdom than you... Siera..." added Gwi assuring the woman he had loved for a long time who would soon become the queen of his heart and life. Siera smiled happily and thanked the two men who were very important in her life.
"Woon... are you going to find a way to find a link between our dimension and the planet where Dan Oh lives?" Siera then asked her brother.
Woon just smiled and nodded slowly. Yes, it is his goal to want to travel in order to find a way to reunited with her. He wants to be with the woman who always lives in his heart, the earth girl named Eun Dan Oh.
