Eleonore’s POV
The twins were awake by the time I got back to the room, busy fastening the straps of their new clothes as I walked in. Slowly, carefully, I went to the side of the room where I took off my shoes and placed them neatly in the shoe rack that was provided. The citadel’s people had strange customs, one of them being that outside shoes were meant for the outside, and there was such a thing like bedroom shoes that existed.
I saw Hayden looking at me from the corner of my eye, his back straightening as he turned from me to his brother, and then from Rhett to me. I watched as he rolled his eyes, and turned back to what he had been doing before I came in. For a while neither of us said anything, until Hayden gave up a huge heave of a sigh and called both of our attention to him.
“Are you two seriously going to ignore each other for our entire stay here?”
“I’m good,” I said.
“Seems fine with me.”
