Eleonore’s POV
Rhett and I made our way back to Ronan’s office sometime later, ready to say goodbye for the time being and go back to the pack house. I was anxious to see how Hayden was doing and didn’t want to waste any more time here than necessary. However, when the two of us got back to the room we saw that a small council of mages had already gathered there.
They all seemed tense, their eyes fixed on Ronan who was sitting behind his desk with his hands folded in front of him, and his chin resting on it. He seemed… well, I don’t know what he seemed. There was a blank look on his face and not a worry in his brow, but his eyes screamed about a thousand and one things I couldn’t catch at all.
Ronan made eye contact with me the moment I entered his office, although the rest of the mages seemed undisturbed by the opening of the door behind them. I began to listen as the rest of them squabbled about themselves.
