Chapter 142: The better shot

Ray went down the stairs so fast that he almost fell straight down. He missed a step as he descended, causing him to go spiralling towards the bottom of the staircase. Luckily, he managed to land on his feet though the impact made his legs throb with pain. He winced once before bursting through the door and entering the long corridor.

Ahead of him, he spotted the four menacing looking Erratics sweeping the area around. The moment their eyes landed on Ray, they screeched loudly and charged at him. Time seemed to slow down as Ray stared at the oncoming creatures baring their claws and teeth in his direction. He needed to make a split second decision whether or not he could make it inside the shooting range before the Erratics got to him. He was roughly the same distance from the door as they were. He could hear his heart pound against his chest. If he was going to try to enter the shooting range he had to move now.
