Chapter 84: Kuo Jian
Lin Cian opened his eyes suddenly as his heart raced rapidly inside his chest. Sweat dripped from his brows as he breathed heavily. His head throbbed from the sudden interruption of what seemed like a nightmare yet, why did it seem real? His body felt sore like it had been beaten by a thousand men. He closed his eyes for a minute, trying to clear his vision, and stopped the constant sharp pain in his head. Pulling his legs towards his face, he rested his elbows on top of his knees and covered his face with his hands.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, and opened his eyes again only to realize that something was off.
This was not in the bed! How is he here?
Panicking, he roamed his eyes frantically, trying to find something or someone familiar.
"This can't be happening?" He thought.
He could never imagine the terrible nightmare anymore as it turned him crazy.
He ignored the sheets, stood up, and analyzed the room, fortunately, he felt relaxed after realizing where he was. He was in the bed where the young man was once sleeping... no... it should be a house same as the chamber where the young man lay.
His breath and posture relaxed and he sat on the bed trying to reanimate his nightmare. However, his eyes become bloodshot once he remembered what he saw some time ago. He sat on the bed till the daybreak and imagined things until William came into the room to check him out.
William saw Lin Cian massaging his temples and wondered what in these words can make him tense but he didn't open his mouth because he felt strange about Lin Cian's demeanor.
"Good morning" he greeted Lin Cian with a snicker however Lin Cian didn't respond for a second and forced a playful smile on his lips and looked at him "is it morning now?" his smile widened from his ear to another ear but William knew what he was thinking.
"Tell me... What happened?" William walked toward Lin Cian and sat on the bed near Lin Cian. Lin Cian knew William would not buy his nonsense but he don't want to speak about it. As if William was able to read minds "fine if you don't want to say" he turned to Lin Cian and smiled. He patted Lin Cian's shoulder, stood up, and let go a sigh.
Lin Cian also smiled at him and started to enquire about the young man and the young woman with him. Even though it is natural to ask someone about a person's health William found it fishy. But he did nothing other than stare at Lin Cian.
After a few seconds "they were fine" he nodded his head as he with slightly blown cheeks and he continued "you can speak to them today" William said and moved from there to let Lin Cian rest more.
William felt there is an untold connection between Lian and one of the two new people. He felt so because when Lin Cian found out that the young man was injured and had yet to injure the woman he took action as he went berserk. So William believed that Lin Cian should either relate to one of them or both.
When William reached the exit "thank you for saving us" he turned and smiled at him with the utmost respect. Lin Cian tilted his face down and sat there while his poker face showed no expression but William just walked out of the house to let him rest.
Lin Cian turned his face to William who is walking out of the door and stared at him for a moment: waiting for his disappearance. He lay on his back while bringing both of his hands under his head. Pulling his right knee to his stomach and rests his left leg on the right knee staring at the roof.
He let go a sigh and started to bring the memories of bashing his head with the old man. When he saw that Harry was attacked and has no more chance if he was hit Lin Cian felt his energy soring for some unknown reason so he fought with the old man despite his physic. Rather than his energy welling up he also felt his energy going down as he felt a constant cycle of charge in and charge out.
"Yin energy" Lin Cian had only one answer because only the yin and yang energy constantly charge in and charge out by changing its cycle. Lin Cian understood where the energy is coming from so he realized what was going on and why his body was suddenly filled with yin energy.
Knowing that he wanted to drain the energy welling up in his body as quick as possible he proceed to fight the old man because he want to save the person on the other end who lend him the yin energy.
"Silly girl, you don't have to sacrifice so much for me," he thought himself and interrupted the attack of the old man. Not knowing the situation of the other person in this process Lin Cian started to burst his soul energy at the old man and spread them with his spirit energy. He guided them precisely with his metal energy and covered himself to be protected by the invisible energy barrier he just made.
As the first defense of the old man's power was already an achievement Lin Cian couldn't stop because of the irresistible itch of the old man. Can I do it? The burst energy of the old man was too strong for a low-level cultivator like him but he had no choice but to face him head-on.
Without having another chance rather than the fight Lin Cian decided to give his all including his intelligence. The golden energy flowing through the old man wasn't his but the young man in a coma. Since Lin Cian knew it he also suspected that the old man's actual energy was not very powerful so he dared to fight the old man.
Lin Cian who had an exceptionally strong mental energy took over the control of the energy shot toward him with a great effort of powering up his body with the yin energy to withstand the attack. All he knew was the core of the young man was not fully attached to the core of the old man.
Without knowing the future Lin Cian directly attacked the energy ball with his mental energy and gain control of the whole energy including the power yet to be generated by the old man. If only the core of the young man has already become a part of the old man then he would have a chance to defend himself.
Not expecting such a cunning ghost the old man regretted picking a fight with young people but isn't it too late? Lin Cian divided the light ball into eight small balls using his mental strength and used them as a carrier to restore the core of the young man in a coma.
Speaking of which, Lin Cian already knew the young man in a coma. Kuo Jian, the young man in a coma was a strong fighter but he failed to beat the old man. Strange? Not really because it must be related to the woman with him. He decided to speak with the woman during the day but was curious about how to react to the whole thing moving around him.
Even if it has to do something with the woman Lin Cian was not a fool to just believe something randomly assuming his thoughts were right. Only the thumb rule he followed throughout his life made him a person who cannot be easily deceived.
Appearance can be deceptive and what you hear may not be close but the truth may or may not be different.
Without making a judgment Lin Cian closed his eyes with the woman who helped him with his vision. 'How long will it take to meet you? Will you remember me?' his imagination pierced his heart like a knife when the word yin energy repeatedly hollered in his mind.
Relaxing his mind he closed his eyes but he could see the lovely appearance of the young maiden who promised her whole life to be with him. His heart weighed heavy and his eyes become wet while his lips stuttered. Not realizing the pain in his heart Lin Cian rolled to his left and closed his eyes trying to have some rest.
Wondering whether to return to her or continue his journey with the hunters his mind lingered on the chances.
He walked out of the house when he heard the crowing of the rooster. Yawning to break out of his laziness his stomach made a sound to indicate that it need some fuel to it. He sighed and he went in the direction of the smoke raising somewhere close to him.
