Fortunately, he is not alone in this thought. The other clones agreed to let him and Legion-8 hatch first before they begin another round of dangerous experimentation. They didn't know that the previous one was going to be so dangerous. If they did, they would have prepared better before they tried it. 

Now they know that the shards of power are powerful but also capable of random things. They won't risk what they have in Legion-5 and Legion-8 for something that is not certain. 

Legion-5's tune changed after the agreement. He began looking forward to controlling the shard of power. "I want to hatch quickly so that we can start working on the shard of power."

He doesn't want his near-death experience to be in vain. He has already been through the dangerous moment but nothing has come out of it for him. He can bear with it for now since he is not the only one who can't use the shard of power for anything.
