“No he won’t. I looked at his calendar on her desk. The staff meeting was moved to three, he won’t be here till four.” Patrick smiled. “I have all the time I need to deal with you and then innocently show up for my four o’clock appointment and find the body.”
Greg experienced real fear for the first time in his life. “That’s the drugs talking. You’d be caught and never see Johnny again. You’ve left fingerprints and DNA all over this room. The hospital security cameras saw you enter the hospital. The cameras saw you come onto this floor and into this office. You’re not thinking clearly.”
“I’m thinking clearly, I’ll show you just how clear I’m thinking.” Patrick lunged across the two feet separating him from Greg, putting his hands around Greg’s neck and began to squeeze.
Greg tried to scream. He threw himself forward and knocked over a chair that banged against the table. The more noise he made the more likely he’d get help before he passed out.
