Gabriel went into the bathroom. Kane heard the water run as Gabriel washed his hands. He came back, fetched some water from the carafe on the nightstand, and poured it into the waiting glass. “Here, take at least the pain pill, but I suggest you take the sleeping pill too. You are bound to have nightmares and the sleeping pill will prevent most of them and allow you to get some rest.” Kane still hesitated to take the pills. He put the water on the nightstand with the two pills.

“I can’t sleep too late. I have to notify Mrs. Garcia, the principal of McClellan to let her know I won’t be able to work for a few weeks. Then I have to file a disability claim.”
