Third Arc (Fallen Heart) - 325. Kill The Holy Knight's Family
"You have to kill the holy knight's family and their bloodlines!" the voice hissed, its tone growing louder, more insistent with each word. "You have to! That's your destiny! Your fate! That's the reason why you were born!" The voice roared in anger.
Angel's heart pounded in his chest, his breath quickening. He hadn't heard that voice in so long, yet now it was back, louder and more terrifying than ever. He tried to speak, to challenge the voice, but his own voice seemed trapped in his throat.
Just as the darkness seemed to close in tighter around him, suffocating him with its weight, another voice cut through the shadows—clear, fierce, and undeniably defiant. It was the voice of a girl, filled with strength and determination.
"I'm not your killing tool!" the girl's voice rang out. "I have my own will! And I will shape my own destiny!" She said the last words with a fierce, emphatic tone, as if daring the darkness to defy her.
'I've heard this voice before,' Angel thought, his mind struggling to place it. It was the girl's voice—fierce and defiant. But he couldn't remember where or when he had heard it. The sound of her voice triggered a strange feeling of nostalgia in his heart, as if it was connected to a distant memory, something buried deep within him. His heart began to race.
The hoarse voice laughed again. "How can you fight something that's in your blood? Tell me, how?" it taunted, the words dripping with malice.
But the girl's voice responded with a strength that surprised him. "I will find my way," she declared, her tone unwavering.
"Find your way?" the hoarse voice sneered, its tone full of derision. It laughed, a cold, bitter sound. "Sooner or later, your body will be the house for the crystal until it gets its revenge and finds its forever home. There's nothing you can do. You won't be able to escape your fate!" The final words were filled with a dark command and an even darker threat.
Those words struck Angel. The crystal. He knew the crystal they were talking about. It was the same dark crystal that had been implanted in him, the source of his power and his curse. The mention of it brought a surge of fear and anger, a combination that made his heart race even faster. His breath quickened, and suddenly, his eyes flew open.
He was no longer in the darkness. The bed's canopy came into view above him, and the familiar surroundings of his chamber slowly took shape in the dim morning light. His chest heaved as he tried to catch his breath, his heart still pounding as if he had been running for miles. The sunlight streamed through the narrow gaps in the heavy curtains, casting slivers of golden light across the room. Rose was beside him, her body pressed close. Her arm draped over his chest in a gentle, protective gesture. She was still asleep, her breathing slow and even, oblivious to the nightmare that had just gripped him.
Angel's body was covered in a thin layer of sweat, his skin clammy and cool despite the warmth of Rose's embrace. He could feel his pulse hammering in his throat, could feel the adrenaline coursing through his veins. Despite his best efforts to calm himself, his mind was still racing, replaying the dream.
He raised one of his hands, staring at it as it trembled uncontrollably. His whole body was shaking.
"Sooner or later, your body will be the house for the crystal until it gets its revenge and finds its forever home."
'What does it mean?' he wondered, his thoughts swirling as he tried to piece together the meaning behind the cryptic message. His mind filled with questions that had no clear answers. The voice had spoken of the "Holy Knight's family," and Angel knew exactly who that referred to—the Reinheart family of Asteria, his family.
But then there was the mention of the "house of the crystal." Angel's brow furrowed as he tried to decipher those words. Did it mean that the woman in his dream was also a host for the crystal, like he was? Could there be more than one bearer of this dark power? And if so, what did that mean for him? For them? He had always believed that his own connection to the crystal was unique, a singular curse placed upon him to bear. But now, with this new revelation, he wasn't so sure.
