Chapter 16: Look beneath the surface, and you’ll be surprised at what you find

Logan and I went to bed without saying another word last night. He held me in his arms all night, but something felt different─off. It’s a stressful situation for all of us, especially for Logan, who probably feels the sting of someone invading his territory. I know I should ask him what’s wrong. However, a part of me is petrified to know what he might say, so I remain silent.

This morning, I watch as he rises from the bed and begins to dress. “Where are you going?” I ask sleepily.

Logan looks back at me from over his shoulder, his firm ass and muscled back flexing. “I have to go and question our intruders, Kitten.”

My stomach flips at his words. I still can’t believe Nancy broke into Logan’s house. Of course, she had no idea that she was breaking into a CIA operative’s home. Otherwise, I imagine she wouldn’t have bothered.

“Do you have to go to the hospital today?”
