Yu Bai did not expect the woman to suddenly fall in front of him, so without thinking he suddenly rushes to catch her.
For some unknown cause, his reasoning seems to be in a haywire today. Ever since he smelled the woman's scent his coldness and indifference to women did not work on her anymore. It's like he could see Ma Mian's figure on this woman and he would even sometimes think that the woman is Ma Mian subconsciously.
But of course, he knew that this woman is not his wife. This woman is a very famous star in the entertainment industry and has made a name for herself in the business. Though he dislikes stars and most artists in this industry because of his experience with them, this is not the case with this beautiful woman.
She seemed different from others. She even knew how to fight and she could really fight well. But still, he knew that he could not have this kind of thinking towards her because… he is already married.
But seeing her falling to the ground seemed to have made his heart feel pity for her. So without thinking, he suddenly rushes to her side and catches her in his arms.
Ma Liling was a little amazed at her husband's quick reaction. But she still wanted to play with him at this time because she truly found him cute and attractive with his conflicted expression while holding her.
"Sorry about that…" she said as she suddenly winced in pain.
Yu Bai showed worry in his eyes as he subconsciously extended his hand.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, it's just a… a sprain…" she said with a slight blush on her face.
Upon seeing this Yu Bai's face turned serious, he found the woman truly beautiful, which he could not deny. But his heart has already rejected this woman, inside of it only belongs to one and that is Ma Mian, his gentle wife.
"We have to leave this place… I think the police are coming this way…" Yu Bai said as he once again glances at the thugs on the ground.
The two left with Yu Bai helping Ma Liling by her hand until they arrive outside and into the corner of the street.
"Umm… Do you… Do you have a car? Can… Can you take me home? I'm afraid that getting a cab this time would be really dangerous for me. You will not leave a helpless woman will you?" Ma Liling said while blinking her beautiful eyes that sparkle like the stars.
Yu Bai's heart suddenly skipped a beat upon seeing this, but he controlled his emotion and turn around.
"Follow me…" he said in a cold tone while extending one of his arms.
Ma Liling held it as she was escorted to the car which is parked at the side of the road.
They are near the ABC Company, but Ma Liling did not want to attract any attention, so she has her mask on and has put her hair in a bun.
She carefully enters Yu Bai's old car and the two left the street corner.
"Where should we go?" Yu Bai asked.
"Hmm… I can't go home now…" Ma Liling said with a pout as she was thinking.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, if I go home, I would only be lonely. I have no one in my house right now. That fight is still making my hand and body shaking in fear, and I know that if I go home right now, my mind will only be filled with fear and anxiety. So… would be a gentleman and help me? Can I at least stay at your house? Your wife might already be there right now, right?" Ma Liling said as if feeling a bit distressed.
Though Yu Bai is a bit hesitant, he could not deny that the woman has helped his wife escape this incident and has been implicated because of it. So if he takes her home, then maybe Ma Mian would be thankful and could help with her.
"Okay, I try to call my wife…" Yu Bai said as he suddenly presses one on his smartphone.
Ma Liling has already turned off her phone when she was thinking of this mischievous act, so she was not worried.
"Hmm… It seems that her phone is off…" Yu Bai said with a frown.
He drove the car to their small home and the two enters the flat.
Ma Liling acted like it was her first time entering the house as her eyes are all over the place.
"The house is small, but I like it… It feels warm… Like… like a home." She muttered.
Yu Bai entered the house and began checking the rooms trying to find Ma Mian. But no one is around, so he frowns as he walks to Ma Liling with confusion in his eyes.
"Can I… Can I use the bathroom?" Ma Liling suddenly asked.
Yu Bai nodded his head and sat on the couch he is very worried about her wife now. When Ma Liling is inside the bathroom, he wanted to trace where Ma Mian's phone is right now, but when he opened his phone; he suddenly received a voice message.
"Honey… I can't come home right now. I suddenly needed to go to City H with Yu Qi. I was glad to run unto her while escaping. I was so afraid but I'm fine now… Take good care of yourself, okay? Oh, by the way… The woman who helped me… I think it was Ma Liling I wanted to show my gratitude for her help, but I guess I could not see her sooner. If she needs your help, help her, please… Thank you, love you, honey…"
Yu Bai was stunned at the fast message of his wife. It was like she was saying those things in just one breath.
The situation right now is a bit peculiar, so he did not know how to react at this point. The woman seems to be in some trouble with the media, and she seems to be hiding from the way she did not want to go home.
Since she saved his wife, he would not mind helping her for a while then.
Yu Bai helplessly glances at the bathroom and heaves a heavy sigh.
