Chapter 170: Progress

"Dan! I'm so so sorry. I came over as soon as I heard," Kathleen cried as soon as she walked into the house and embraced Dan, who was seeing off some guests. 

"Thanks for coming," Dan said in a weary tone. Dan was really tired of hearing the word 'sorry,' even though he knew more was coming. It wasn't even two hours yet since his father died, yet visitors kept flooding in and out of the house, despite the fact that it was a weekday and they were all supposed to be at work. Bad news really did travel very fast, and he did not doubt that this particular news had started spreading from the hospital, especially after Patrick's unnecessary outburst, which had attracted too much attention to them.

He was trying really hard to be strong, especially for the sake of his mother, who was obviously trying really hard not to break down as she talked with her guests, as well as for Bella, who was just sitting beside his mother, not knowing what to say or do to comfort the lady.
