Chapter 196: Fragile Pride  

The Tome of Pride had appeared in Leo's hands like it had been spit out of the darkness that now wrapped around him. 

"Morgana…" Leo's voice was strained. "I… I…"

"What is it, Leo?" Morgana prompted. 

"I… can't," Leo gasped out a final word, "move!" 

That was the moment the coiling darkness decided to wrap itself even tighter on Leo, constricting more and more around his body like a serpent readying itself to feed on a trapped mouse. 

And seeing him restrained like that sent Morgana in a rage the likes of which Leo had never known before. 

He would later tell people it was her eyes and not the huge amount of energy that leaked out of her in that moment that made Leo shiver. It was like twin suns had burst to life inside her violet irises and whatever they lay their gaze upon would soon become scorched earth.
