Chapter 31: Her Side Of The Story

~•Aden•~

"She got hurt because of your stupidity, and I am blaming myself for it." I almost yelled at her as Amara's red palm flashed through my mind once again.

Despite wanting to keep the burning rage in check, I bursted out before Dana. I didn't know why it was bothering me more than necessary, but it was, way more than it should. Having empathy for a fellow being was one thing, but an empathy which would only add fuel to my burning rage, wasn't required. Or was it not just empathy I had for her?

"Who are you talking about?" Her question brought me out of my thoughts. "Who is the 'she' you are talking about?" She continued, stressing at the word 'she' while looking at me with a questioning gaze.

"It doesn't matter who I am talking about. What matters is that the person got hurt because 'you' cast a spell on my bag! She barely touched it, and now her palm is scalding red." I turned my voice down a couple of notches and muttered under my breath.

I couldn't afford to lose my car before my girlfriend even if it concerned confronting her about her wrongdoings and how she had misused her powers. That wouldn't be fair to my girlfriend.

"How could you make such a stupid mistake?" I reprimanded her as I softened my tone a little after seeing the hurtful look which was marring her face.

"Is she okay?" The hurt on her face was replaced by a concerned look as she questioned me.

"Yes, she is okay. I can't say about the pain though, but her palm still looks like it was pressed against a burning iron." I answered her as I leaned my back against the wall behind me which was more of some wooden planks stacked and nailed together than an actual wall.

I don't know why, but I omitted mentioning the fact that the person injured was fine because she was just like me and her. Maybe I was just waiting for Amara to accept it herself before I could share my discovery with Dana.

"Then there is nothing to be worried about, right?" She stared right into my eyes as she took a step in my direction.

"I know it was wrong of me to take such a step even if my intentions were right. I should have taken your permission, and consulted the matter with you first. I am sorry." She continued as she gave me an apologetic look which only made me shake my head sideways.

"It's not about you apologizing to me about touching my belongings or using spells on them. I am only giving you an earful here because what you did was wrong in the first place. Even if you had good intentions, which I don't doubt even the slightest bit, you shouldn't have taken the step in the first place." I continued.

Though I wasn't talking to her in the same tone which I used earlier with her, the irksome feeling was still tugging at the threads of my soul. And it was taking all of my willpower to not snap at the lady before me once again. The more we talked about it, the more I was bothered by it. Wasn't talking about matters out loud supposed to help in feeling better?

"I know, and I am sorry about it, Aden." She spoke up as I saw her taking a couple of steps towards me. "You know that the spells don't come with a warning and states anything about what effects they might have on humans. How was I supposed to know that a protection spell would hurt someone?"

She continued to hold my gaze, her honey brown orbs staring into my blue ones, as she walked closer to me. Her steps came to a sudden halt as she stopped at a distance of two or three feet from me.

"You know how I am. I didn't tell it to you as I didn't want myself to sound like an overbearing, over-protective girlfriend. But there was a reason behind me going around your back to put the spell on your back." She gave me a sad smile as she shook her head sideways.

"What was it?" Her words piqued my interest and I couldn't help but question her about it.

"A day before the game, I heard some girls talking about how they wanted to have a look at your bag. They were playing that truth and dare game, and one of the girls was given the dare to look through your bag. I just wanted to teach them a lesson. That's why I used such a strong spell." She answered me before covering the rest of the distance between us.

"You know how much I love you. It's just, I don't like when those pestering flies bug you." She continued, before pursing her heart shaped lips in a pout.

After hearing her side of the story, my anger began to dissipate and I heaved out a long sigh. I lifted my hands which were resting on either side of me and wrapped them around her lower back.

"I know that, sweetheart. And I love you too." I muttered out while pulling her body close to me. One of my hands began to trail up her back and came to rest on the nape of her neck.

"But you should have just told me that, I would have just been careful of the people who hang out around me. Not that they would have found anything in my bag in the first place except for some notebook or some papers." I gave her a reply.

My voice no longer had the same irk or annoyance which it did before. It was the usual tender tone which was reserved just for her.

Using a little force, I pulled her face close and pressed my lips against hers. My movements which were slow at first turned rough as the tender kiss became heated and more passionate. I pulled her body closer as I continued to savour the taste of her lips.
