My eyes slowly glimpsed open to the slight rumbling of turbulence, rocking the plane slowly. I felt my body begin to lurch side-to-side harder, I'd wait for a response for such a unpleasant feeling.
A few minutes later my body still swinging, I finally got my answer. The intercom screeched on.
" Ladies and gentlemen, we are having a few issues with an unexpected storm, please prepare for a bit of turbulence. "
After this, everyone on the plane was now being told what to do in case of an emergency. I wasn't exactly fazed as it was nothing huge.
Since being woken up, It's not as if I would be able to fall back asleep, as I was a light sleeper, and pretty shocked when I found out I even fell asleep on a plane whatsoever.
I turned my head to face out the oval shaped window. I noticed sharp gray clouds and would patiently wait to hear the grumble of thunder. I saw lightning, lightning but heard no growl that came before.
For some odd reason I became annoyed. I huffed softly before leaning my body back into the small chair. I turned to my mom.
" Mom, how come I saw the lighting but hear no thunder, even though we are in a plane, we should be able to hear it, no?"
My mom replied subtly
" Maybe it just wasn't loud enough. "
My mom's short answered didn't satisfy me, but I took it anyways, and went back to looking out with a small sigh.
I didn't clearly listen to what the men in the cockpit had to say next, as I began deep thought on why I couldn't hear the thunder. Because, tell me honestly, what better thing is there to do?
" Maybe the walls are too thick? "
" My mom could be right and the thunder was just not loud enough?"
"Or I'm just not good enough. Am I? "
I mumbled this all to myself very silently, although I noticed my mom giving me a few concerned glances, before tapping my shoulder
" Did you hear what they said? "
I shook my head, soon to be interrupted by furious pounces up-and-down in the plane. My mom was about to say something, I couldn't hear with the screaming of the other passengers.
Little did I know, I'd soon regret not listening.
