"She went north, towards the Skull Sect in charge of this region. If she makes use of her strength within her own Stage and Tier, Momo should be able to get them to allow her to join them." Clan Leader Aoi informs Cifer. "However, there's a few things you should know before you go. For one, you should know why you've always been called Cifer and about the notes that were left with you when the Clan was made to take you in. After all, they belong to you, now more than ever."
As he said this, Clan Leader Aoi hands Cifer what was left. They were all beyond the Aoi Kani Clan to understand anyways. He left after handing them to Cifer since he wanted to let the boy have some privacy.
There was a map like note, a handwritten note, and a note engraved in stone. The last was some kind of manual for something. When it was being read the engraved words and pictures could scroll through what was rather obviously an insane amount of information. Simply sliding up and down told Cifer that there would be at lease 100 "pages" and that wasn't the end of it all. Cifer set that one aside for now. Then picked up the handwritten note.
To his surprise it was very easy to read, as he saw the letters reconfigure themselves and simplify when the Essence remanent on it. The fragment of Essence clearly recognized him, and felt familiar to him as well.
"I hope this reaches you well Brother. There is so much I wish I could share with you about those days and what has transpired to me since then, but it will not be possible. Such was the price I willingly paid, and even this is straining the uttermost limits of my Deal." The letter opens in greeting, seemingly addressed to the former Clan Leader.
"Of course, that is not why I have contacted you. Instead, it is about the boy. Since we parted in such a way, I doubt you will want to raise him simply because I ask it. So, instead, I will speak of benefits and risks." The tone of the letter turned more formal and distant. Clearly there must have been bad blood between the former Clan Leader and the man who wrote this letter.
"If you do as I wish and take this boy in than you may gain benefit. It will only be a matter of time before he outgrows you, but if you raise him well than he will prove invaluable in the meantime. Not to mention more subtle influence worked in your favor. The Clan may even replace those Li family Royals."
"On the other hand, should you decide to spurn this opportunity. Beware. For She is watching. And despite everything, the boy has a fine mother. Even if She never expected the role, swearing it was not possible for her. I wish it were safe for the boy to stay with his mother, but if certain individuals knew that She had a son... I am sorry my brother, I cannot tell you who his parents are and I only act on their behalf."
"I am also sending a map that instructs where he can look for her when the stars and planets align, which is roughly every 10 years. The next time should be in 3 years, so She rather expects it won't happen until he is at least 23. Likely much older given the location."
"Enclosed is his inheritance. She has recorded invaluable information for him, but if anyone in the Clan can understand a portion of it while he is growing up, that can be considered among the benefits. However, make no mistake that the inheritance is his, and his alone. When he comes of age it falls under his complete control."
"Farewell brother, I hope you take this all to heart. I swear on our father's grave that all this is the truth."
Then he looked at the map like note with tremendous eagerness. This would allow him to actually meet someone who knew his parents! He just had to make it there and wait for the appointed time, looking for his mother.
The map showed a view of the constellations and a set of coordinates that Cifer couldn't make heads or tails of. It had a feminine script under the coordinates. "First understand the coordinates, then find the area where you see these constellations. I will meet you someday there."
He felt his heart sink. Of all things, his mother had decided to leave an incomprehensible map to lead him to her! Then he recalled what the first note had said. That it wouldn't even be a meeting time until 9 years passed. He decided to see if there was any clues in the other thing his mother left him.
His inheritance.
