Chapter 16: Greek God

A week after Rachel and I sorted out our misunderstandings, we both started to sit in our class together again. Things fell into the places like they were before, after talking to Rachel that day, I realised that no matter what happens, we will stick together. It makes me feel blessed to have such person in my life who knows me more than I know about myself.

The competitions were held by Q.A.E.S in a few days. Today, I was called by my English teacher during our first Class in the morning. When I went to meet her I saw Veronica and other two people standing in the corridor and waiting for our teacher who was in the staff room. I waved and smiled at Veronica and she did the same.

I went and stood beside her. I asked Veronica if she knew the reason as of why were we called by our English  teacher. She shook her head and replied with a no. I gave a nod to her reply.

Austin wasn't present at that time. The last time I spoke to him was when I gave my  speech. After the elocution competition held by my school management, I never spoke to him again. We only greet each other with a smile and nothing more than that.

A few minutes after our arrival, our teacher told us about the topics which we had to prepare for the competitions. Then I realised that the reason why she called us was to let us know about the topics and the dates.

While I was returning to my class, she called by my name and told me to give details to Austin as he didn't come. I don't know why she called me to tell him, even though we both are in tenth standard, we are in different sections. She must have thought that I was in his class but then thank God I got a chance to talk to him.

I went near his class and peeped through the window and saw that he wasn't in his bench, it was empty. I was disappointed to look at the bench which was empty. I was happy that I could talk to him  finally after months but the universe had other plans for me and for him. My lips were pressed together in a thin line. Why is it always difficult to talk to him?!

"What are you doing here," I heard Justin ask me to which I turned back to see my handsome cousin.

If I tell him the reason why I was searching for Austin, there were chances of him to ask me the reason which I didn't want to say because he would give the details to Austin instead of letting me see Austin. I didn't want to lose this golden opportunity to meet Austin.

My cousin snapped his fingers to bring me back to my senses and asked me again, "what are you doing here, Jess?"

"Um...well...I'm here for Austin, where is he?" I asked.

"In the library, " he replied.

"Oh! I'll see you later bye, I said before I left and didn't give him a chance speak further. I let out a sigh of relief that my cousin didn't shower any questions.

I went to the library and looked  at the people who were seated and drowned into the books. It didn't take me much time to find Austin.

I never thought that people could look attractive even while reading a book. His dark and light brown strands of hair which was shining as always fell on his forehead. The sun light which fell on him, made his face shine bright. He looked like one of those  greek gods from ancient times written in the books. I hope god doesn't punish me for comparing him with the greek gods but every compares a handsome man with Greek Gods, don't they?

I even forgot the reason I came to meet him and I must blame him for almost making me forget about the information I have brought for him. I slowly strode towards him, I took my time to admire his handsome face. I never thought that   he would look even more attractive while reading a....a magazine??! Why is he reading a magazine?!

I looked to my left and to my right to check if the staff members are around, he wasn't even bothered that he would get caught. I read the name of the magazine. It was about my favorite designer ASA. I couldn't help but have a bright smile on my face, does he like ASA? I have to ask him. I was determined to know how much he knew about my favorite designer.

Before I could even call my name, he looked at me when a bright smile was still playing on my lips. "I didn't know you like ASA?" I asked in whisper, I was sure my voice showed my excitement.

"I didn't know you were interested in fashion designing stuff," he stated.

Of course you wouldn't know, you don't even talk to me... Okay.. I don't even talk to you because I mostly run away.

"I like it. I alway collect the designs made by ASA," I answered. And Yes, I have forgotten the duty my teacher has given me and continued to talk about how much I was into fashion designing until we heard someone clear their throat, it was one of the staff member who wanted us to stay quite since we were in library.

"Did you come here to issue the book or to read here?" he asked after the man who interrupted our conversation left. He once helped to find mathematics text book in the library.

"No, I didn't come to take books," I said.

"Then what did you come here for ?" he asked me.

"For you ... ," I replied.

He gave me a quizzical look before flipping the remaining pages of the magazine.

"I mean, I came here for you to  give  you the details about elocution," I said in a low voice  and took a deep breath.

"Ohhh!" he nodded.

"Ma'am called me and told me to inform you about this since you didn't come," I said and looked at  the table.

"Thank You for the information," he said softly which only made my heart flutter.

I smiled and said that I had to return to my class to which he nodded. I left the place without having another glance at him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even though they didn't speak much that day, Jessica was happy. She was happy because she had a chance to talk to him at least for a minute. She  was happy because she  saw him smile while she   was talking. She was happy that she could look at him and admire him.
