"Ok." She replied before hanging up. After recalling her dream, the primary reason she called, she was tempted to call him, but she held herself back. Her rationale was simple; if they can't scale through this, he's not worth her time. One thing she failed to realize is that no relationship can work without effort from both sides. If she merely puts every responsibility on him, he's bound to get tired. She can't expect him to keeping chasing after her if she keeps pushing him away. Kim stared blankly into space until she fell asleep. She stirred continuously in her sleep till the early hours of the morning.
The next day she left the hotel with her belongings to look for a place to stay. With the help of a girl she met, she was able find both a house to stay and a job. It was a hostel-work exchange, she was to do housekeeping in exchange for free accommodation and food during her short stay. After that, she went out for sight seeing. As she walked along the streets crowded with people, she stumbled upon a a psychic. The medium was seated under a shade attending to a client who was seated opposite her. There was a sign on the shade that read, "Psychic Reading for D10" Her interest was piqued so she went forward. In most movies she had seen, scrying, palmistry and tarot cards were popular ways psychics used to do their reading. She had always wanted to go for a reading as she enjoyed clairvoyance.
The medium was one who could read auras. As Kim sat down, she dropped the money on the table. The medium closed her eyes, she took a deep breath before exhaling and then she opened her eyes. "Your health is good." She began speaking. Kim was confused, the lady did not ask for her hand, so she figured it wasn't palmistry. Noticing there was no crystal orb she understood it wasn't scrying either. 'Is it face reading?' she thought.
"Child.. your emotional state is not good." The psychic commented lightly, like she was speaking to a friend about random things. "You're immature.. but since you are still a kid, I guess it's plausible." She continued, then she closed her eyes as the lines on her forehead etched in. "I know you are stressed, tired about everything but that doesn't mean you should repress your emotions.. don't you think so?" She questioned, not expecting an answer from Kim, she continued. "You should kill this fear you feel before it kills you."
Kim quietly sat, trying to analyze the medium. She wasn't comfortable hearing these things from the lady but she sat still. 'Repressed emotions.. fear..' she calmly recited. Those were true but it's as a result of her past. She built a walk so high up in defence that she can't escape. She wasn't even aware of this fact. It is one thing to have a problem and another to know you have a problem. "You are indeed caring and loving but why do you fear expressing it? Why do you fear the future? Do you know the future is just a mirror of the past? There's nothing you've faced that hasn't happened before and there are people who walked out truimphant. You can be like them too."
'Nothing I have faced that hasn't happened before..' Her expression wasn't so good. 'Why do people look down on other people's struggle?' she internally questioned. 'It's not like you are me, they could handle it but can I?' She questioned herself rather than the medium who sat before her. "You're too guarded," the medium said. At this point, Kim really wanted to question why the medium was only seeing negative things. The only positive thing she had said was that her physical health was good.
"Stop being bound by the past and push your way forward only then will you truly be happy." The medium said as if sensing Kim's question. After saying that, she opened her eyes. She examined Kim before saying, "Don't run away, open up. As for the other things, they will naturally take their place." Kim nodded as she was distracted by her thoughts. Not waiting to hear more, she got up, leaving the street. While the medium watched her leave, untill she disappeared from her sight.
What Kim really wanted to hear was the future. How she would become a big public figure, how much money she would make, how she would find her parents, marry who she loves and birth children. She only wanted to hear positive things but the medium only told her negative things she wanted to avoid, for reasons best known to her. In a daze, she found her way to the beach. She kept thinking about everything the medium said. She noticed they only told you your problems and never give solutions. She didn't know how to walk out from the past. "Break free from the past, huh?" How was she to do that? Repressing emotions.. did she really do that? Being guarded, if she really was, she wouldn't live with Carl. The more she thought of these things, the more confused she became.
