Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Ben hung around the fortress for another week while the resources and items continued to accumulate inside the Warehouse. During the week, he went around fine-tuning the structures through the each of their menus.

The Weaponsmith was set to produce steel longswords, steel short swords, black steel blade daggers, and hollow steel shaft spears.

When Ben removed a longsword from the warehouse and used his Analyze skill on it, he was shocked to find out that the sword actually had game-like stats.

When Ben questioned the system about this he found that all weapons and armor have quality levels. These level names are Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythical, Deity, and Omnipotent.

A few factors came into play when the final stats were set to the weapon or armor. The structure's level, the material used to create the item, and if there were any supporting guilds would all decide on the attack damage, quality, and if there would be any bonuses.

This particular sword was made in a level one Weaponsmith workshop from steel and was supported by the Weaponsmith guild. The steel used was one of the deciding elements for this sword base damage and quality. Steel was not yet used on this planet, so that made the quality level jump up Epic. If the Weaponsmith wasn't currently at the lowest level the quality would have increased even more.

Then there was the bonus of +1 to strength. This bonus due to the fact that there was a Weaponsmith Guild built. Once again if the Weaponsmith was a higher level than the bonus would have increased by +1 per level. This means if he upgraded the Weaponsmith to level five the sword would then have a +5 to strength.

The Bowyer structure was putting out new weapons as well. It was currently making a thin flexible steel recurve bow, a wooden recurve bow, and a compact wood bow that could be carried comfortably on your back or attached to a belt on your waist.

This compact bow did not have the range or power of a full-size bow, but Ben thought it would make a good addition to the arsenal. The compact size would make it an ideal bow for those who were traveling on foot with a lot of gear. This small bow could be used by travelers to hunt game or for personal defense.

He wanted to have a compound bow made with cams like big game hunters often used, but he was not producing all the needed resources to make one. Once he had rubber, nylon, and plastic it would be possible to create one.

Ben had a some knowledge about bows and knew that a compound bow is more accurate and can shoot further than other bows. If he were to create a division of archers that used compound bows he would have a significant edge over other armies.

Over at the Armorer, Ben had begun fabrication of reinforced cloth armor, leather armor, steel chain-mail, and steel plate torso armor.

When he had examined the first made steel plate torso armor he once again could see stats.

He found that armor defense was figured on a scale of 1-100. With a defense rating of 60, this made the steel torso armor above average, but far from being a jaw-dropping piece. Once again If he were to use a higher level Armorer it would help increase these stats.

'I now have a few weapons and armors I can sell or use toward equipping soldiers. I think I should create an armor set for myself next.'

After deciding to make armor for himself Ben found the easiest way was to scan his body. Ben was currently standing inside of a small booth inside of the Armorer workshop awaiting his scan. When he had opened the interface earlier and found it had an option to do a 3-dimensional body scan. This scan was to be used for designing custom-made armor that would fit him perfectly.

After Ben clicked on the 3d scan option a door on the side of the Armorer workshop opened to reveal a small booth. When he stepped inside the door closed behind him and the system told him to remove his clothing.

'Oi, aren't you moving a little fast miss system? Not even going to take me out to dinner first before you have me stripped down to my birthday suit?' Ben thought as he shook his head in mirth.

Ben used his inventory to unequip his clothes and stepped into the tiny scan room.

It only took about a minute for the system to create a complete 3d map of his body measurements. When the scan was finished, he equipped his clothes and left the cramped booth.

Back outside be brought out a chair from his inventory and sat down next to the Armorer. Ben planned to make a custom suit of armor for himself, so he got comfortable and opened the Armorer menu.

With the Armorer's custom design menu open he began to create a form-fitting suit of armor. The sleek human shaped armor took on a look that sort of reminded him a little of the famous Iron Man suit without the flashy colors and patterns.

The 3d custom design program had options similarly used by the 3DS Max, Blender, and ZBrush software in his programs system section. With an overlay of his 3d body scan, he could shape and mold each piece armor so it would perfectly fit him.

For the material, he used the Mythril that his mine had produced since it was originally built. On the inside of the armor, he made a multi-layered cotton fabric protective padding. Over the top of the layered cotton fabric, he then used multiple layers of silk.

The inside cotton fabric and silk provided two features for him. The first feature would be the layered silk that came in contact with his skin would wick the sweat away from him into the cotton layer padding helping him to remain dry when he was fighting or running.

The second feature would be that the multi-layered cotton and silk inner padding would help absorb any incoming blows that struck his armor. With an idea like football pads or hockey pads that protected the player from bone-jarring collisions, he applied this concept to his armor.

One other thing that made Ben's design different from normal armor was he did not need to design it in split sections that used leather straps to attach it to him.

His inventory system allowed him to equip clothing and items directly to his body. This option allowed Ben to design the sections armor to fit in one solid piece around him.

The torso was one piece with the back, front, and sides. The armor for his arms was designed to wear in two pieces so that he could bend his arms at the elbow. Each arm had an upper piece that wrapped fully around his biceps and triceps and a lower piece that wrapped completely around his forearms and wrist

His legs were like his arms there was an upper and lower piece for each leg that allowed him the free movement of his knees. Each of these sections was designed with tiny rods that connect them all together like a door hinges.

He could bend, turn, or rotate all his joints freely without having any exposed areas that would allow a blade to slip in through.

To protect his hands, he made Mythril gloves that covered the back of his hand and the back of his fingers, but the inside of the fingers and palms were thin leather. This would allow him to swing a sword with finesse or pull the string back on the bow. Ben thought that if the whole glove were metal he would not feel the sword in his hand or properly hold a bowstring. Not having that sense of feel made it difficult to know how much you were gripping something.

There was another skill that worried him and it was Iron Grip. What would happen if he used it while wearing solid metal gloves that wrap around his fingers? Would they be squeezed under the force and crush his fingers inside of them?

With this in mind, he came up with a design similar to a hockey glove. A hockey glove has thick protective padding on the wrist, back of the hand and the back of the fingers, but the inside of the fingers and palms were made with thin leather that allowed the player to grip and feel the hockey stick in his hand.

To protect his feet, he designed a leather hiking boot that had a thin Mithril plating that covered the top arch laces area and wrapped down the sides ending at the thick cloth soles.

Because Ben did not yet have the money to make a [Rubber Tree Plantation] and a [Rubber Factory] or even a [Nylon Factory], he had to make due by designing a thick reinforced cloth sole of his boot. The sole might not hold up to long distance running like his sneakers, but they would be great for quietly walking through the wilderness.

Ben had worn a hard hat on the construction site all day at work and got to the point he would forget he was wearing it, but when he thought about wearing a metal armor helmet and having his vision restricted he was unsure if, he should even make a helm.

At first, he designed one like a hard hat that, he was used to but found it was more designed to protect the top of the head and left the back of the neck and the side of the face exposed.

Discarding the hard hat idea he soon thought about Earth's modern military helmets and the Kevlar helmet worn by U.S. Troops. He dug through the books stored on his interface and found pictures of combat helmets.

These helmets came down to protect the back of the neck and stopped above the collar line. The side of the helmet protected the ears and wrapped around to just below the lower earlobe.

The front had an open face that allowed the soldier to see straight ahead and out of the corners of his eyes. He liked the design and copied it with the 3D modeling program and just like his armor made it from Mythril with layered cloth and silk as the inside padding. This also the benefits of the armor would wick the sweat away while providing comfort and protection.

The last part of the helmet was a leather chin strap with a Mythril buckle that worked like a belt buckle with the tongue and holes which would allow him to tighten or loosen it. When he double checked everything to make sure that the added padding would not make the armor too snug when he equipped it, he found everything seemed to be fine.

After, saving his design Ben went to the main Armorer interface menu where he decided to spend 200g to upgrade it to a level three. With this upgrade, the production and quality of all armor would increase now. With these new upgrades implemented, Ben went back to the design page where his armor design was saved.

Ben completed the design on the interface and received a time until completion. It would take an entire ten whole minutes for everything to be made. It was crazy it took him over an hour to design this armor and the armorer workshop could pump it out in ten minutes!

'I guess I can't complain, I am actually excited to try it on. I have never worn armor before, besides my chain-mail which is more like wearing a heavy long sleeve shirt than wearing actual plate armor.'
