Chapter 34: Assessment
Finishing up the conversation with Christopher as the assessment was just about to begin. Walking into the assessment area a man that looked to be in his mid-forties walked in and shouted for everyones attention, one young master was unlucky enough to ignore his shout and was knocked out cold before anyone could see what had happened and looked back to the man only to see him grinning. After the little episode the young master was asked to leave and was taken by the servants he had taken with him, the middle aged man then led them through to another room which had another person there, the person was a woman who looked like she was in her early thirties and had above average looks, not enough to be described as drop dead gorgeous but good looking nonetheless.
The assessment was simple as all you had to do was put your hand on a crystal ball that would change colours and have stars in the middle depending on how high your talent (comprehension) was. The colour white represents the worst grade, green represents low grade, yellow represents mid-low grade, red represents those with high-low grade, pink represents low-middle grade, blue represents mid-middle grade, purple represents high-middle grade, black represents low-high grade, bronze represents mid-high grade, silver represents high-high grade and gold represents perfection grade. The stars represent the number of your comprehension therefore one comprehension equals one star, two comprehension equals two stars etc.
The stars represent how high your comprehension is and the colour represents how effectively you can use that comprehension however even at the worst grade a higher colour will always trump a lower colour unless the colour has nine stars which is the perfection amongst stars which makes it just under the worst grade of the next colour.
It didn't take that long as the academy had two of the crystals, the overall time it took for the assessment to take place was just over an hour. Everyone was shocked by Sarah as they saw her crystal, shining with a golden light with eight stars in the middle, Sarah already knew that she had a comprehension of eight however what she didn't expect was that it was of the prefection grade. Tian Long only had a comprehension of seven, although normally that would have been something that amazed people however after Sarah's display they couldn't muster up any reaction, maybe if it was of perfection grade then it would have elicited a reaction however his crystal only shone with a black light. Jian's result was the shocker as he also had a comprehension of eight however his was only shone with a blue colour. Although not as shocking as Sarah he still got a reaction just from having eight stars.
Christopher only had six stars with silver which was only just above average in terms of talent compared to most enrolled here as the cap limit for a comprehension of four and the lowest grade of colour accepted is red. The average student at the academy had four to five as their comprehension and a colur of red. Hua didn't get assessed as she was being accepted as a maid. Although maids can learn skills if they want they are only allowed to see skills of the 9th star and below.
Skills and items in this world are categorised as such. Skills/items suitable for Level 1 - 9 are called star level skills/items. The higher the star the more powerful the skill/item. Skills/items for Rank 1's are categorised as new moon as they are symbolised by a fully shadowed moon. Skills/Items for Rank 2's are categorised as waxing crescent, Rank 3's are first quarter, Rank 4's are waxing gibbous, Rank 5's are full moons, Rank 6's are waning gibbous, Rank 7's are last quarter, Rank 8's are waning crescent and Rank 9's are represented by a dark moon. Today's society no longer knows the categorisation that the divine use for their skills and items.
Although her talent shocked everyone, in her current form, she was weak. Right now she was on par with Level 8's and can take on Level 9's and a possibility of taking down a fresh Rank 1 if taken by surprise.
After having their comprehension checked the group was then led to the next room where their status was checked. Just like there was a comprehension crystal there was also a status crystal, however the fault with status crystals was that they can be given false information as the crystal can only take information it was given by the person touching the crystal. For example once Sarah finished her status for the assessor it came out as:

Explanation of the skills
Hellheims Sword Arts: Uses frost element to freeze whatever the sword comes into contact with.
Paladins Light Sword Arts: Uses Light element to purify (burn), more effective on things siding with the element of darkness.
Advanced Elemental Control: Frost - Allows user to communicate with the frost element better.
Advanced Elemental Manipulation: Frost - Allows user to manipulate the frost element easier.
Advanced Elemental Control: Light - Allows user to communicate with light element better.
Advanced Elemental Manipulation: Light - Allows the user to manipulate the light element easier.
Light Bending - Light bending is a skill that allows you to bend light therefore for example rendering whatever you wish invisible to others etc.
Flash - Flash is a skill that allows you to condense an orb of light and release it blinding others (Warning: Skill works on friends, enemies and yourself)
Iglu - Iglu is a skill that allows you to create a dome out of frost around yourself for protection. Can self-repair by absorbing the frost element in the air, heals faster or slower depending on the environment.
Frost Wolves - Frost Wolves is a skill that allows the user to condense the frost element into a wolf, the higher the users level of the skill the more wolves can be summoned.

Authors Note
The sword arts were a way of making even the higher ups of the school think her family was real and to give a reason for the effects of the swords. The reason she needs to hide that she can make 'real' swords is that the ability is very rare in the human world and that she needs to be strong enough before she revealed it.
