Chapter 1: A First Look
This book is dedicated to the man who accompanied me through night and through day and my beautiful daughter who made me smile in between.
Writing up financial reviews was purgatory. I vented all of my frustration into a long sigh, as I slammed down my pen.
Just as I opened my mouth to suggest dinner I heard a voice.
"Yaoyao. Dinner?"
I smiled weakly at my roommate, "You know me best." I stood up. "Come on, let's all head out to dinner now" I called out to the other two figures intently studying before me. "Your hard earned grades won't fly away if you go get dinner now."
Chen Hanbing stood up and joined Tang Xuehua at the door.
Liu Yiwen stayed in her spot without raising her head "Can you bring back dinner for me?"
"Wanwan, you're not coming again?"
Wanwan only shook her head with an apologetic smile.
So I trooped out towards the uni cafeteria with the rest of
my roommates, leaving her behind.

"Yaoyao, did you dream of Ning Ye last night?"
My chopsticks froze on the last remnants of my rice.
Hanbing was seriously asking about this again?
"Yep"
I ducked my head to finish off my dinner.
She grinned "Did anything happen?"
I rolled my eyes, "What do you think?"
I actually baked cookies for him last night, but somehow they ended up burnt. So Ning Ye had proposed to teach me how to cook.
His kindness towards me, made me feel warm and tingly inside.
Xue'er's brows furrowed in disappointment. "So nothing happened last night."
I just raised my eyebrows and gave her a tight lipped smile, neither agreeing or disagreeing.
Xue'er leaned in towards me as she whispered. "I don't get why you like him so much. Nothing has happened between you two, you can't even touch." Suddenly her mouth quirked up into a smile, "I wonder what the rest of the males in our uni would think if they knew that their school goddess was in love with a man who she met in a dream?"
I felt my face flush "Well, they can go feel sad then"
I didn't care about the other boys in our uni, none had ever caught my eye. Ever since I met Ning Ye three years ago, I've been comparing all of them towards Ning Ye. As far as I was concerned, none of them could match up to Ning Ye.
I quickly stood up after polishing off my tray of food and went to get Wanwan's dinner from the chef.
After delivering the food, I sat down at my laptop feeling refreshed and quickly finished off my report.
I could finally go write again!
I logged into Write, Read, Binge (WRB) under the name of Bai Yanzi and sighed happily seeing all the new comments in my inbox.
"Teacher Yanzi, thank you for the chapter *^^*. I'm going to check every few hours for a new chapter"
"Teacher! I shed a tear today, the new chapter was simply too moving!"
"Looking forward to the next chapter. Many thanks."
I smiled at the messages my readers had written to me, replying to the top ten comments. Then opened a folder labeled as 'I am Alice'.
I leaned back on my chair imagining a voice inside my head.
"I'm sick of everything that you want! You want me to be my older sister.
You don't want me, you want Julie!"
I could hear Alice's voice ringing inside my head with perfect clarity.
"But no matter what happens. I will never turn into Julie. She died years ago." Alice's voice would grow soft at this point. "Julie isn't coming back. And, I am not Julie, I will never be her. I am Alice"
I happily sunk into the world of Alice Xian. and didn't stop typing until I had finished a chapter.
I triumphantly posted the chapter.
I looked up to see that the rest of my roommates had already gone to sleep.
It was late.
Yawning, I stretched my stiff body before ambling off to bed.
When my eyes opened again, my surroundings had changed.
Before my eyes was a world of wildness and beauty. My clothes had changed into a white hanfu.
I unhesitatingly jumped off the tree that I had appeared on and into the air.
The split second I jumped, a peculiar sensation spread through my body, my skirt billowed in the wind and I gently descended onto the ground.
My heart quickened when I saw the figure of a man standing next to the tree.
The sight of Ning Ye standing by the tree stored up some if my old memories of when I first met him.
Recalling that I had called him a ghost after rudely sticking my hand into his back the first time we met, caused me to chuckle. My shock had been huge when I had reached out to pat his back to check if he wasn't some hallucination. The last thing I had expected was that my hand would completely go through his body like nothing was there at all.
Ning Ye turned around and gazed at me with his pitch black eyes with the ghost of a smile.
"Welcome Back Yanzi."
