These Kinds of people were referred to as 'Norms' Katsuya, the protagonist was once a 'Norm'. Monsters were the reason why is life was miserable. With the help of an A.I, he was able to begin leveling up, getting stronger each time. His over use of one of his abilities slowly started corrupting his thoughts, causing hims to lose a piece of his humanity each time. Will he become a full-blown monster in exchange for power? Or, will he be able to keep moving on without it? This is not the story about the rise of a hero or savior.
