The Zodiac Prince (Gatekeeper Saga)
Blurb: A reluctant farm boy discovers he is the vessel to an immense power capable of tipping the balance in the fight against the Dark King.
___________________________________
Synopsis:
The world is in the brink of apocalypse, losing the war against the forces of evil. The last Gatekeeper died a century ago at the hands of the Dark King. What remains of the five great races of Mortals, Mages, Giants, Elves and Dwarves were hiding inside the walled city of Eldoria, the last stronghold of the living. When all hope was lost, the Gatekeeper, a Zodiac Prince vessel to the twelve primordial gods was reborn. The Zodiac Prince could tip the balance in the fight against the Dark King ONLY if he can control the power of the twelve great elemental spirits—a feat none of his previous incarnates were able to accomplish.
Unbeknownst to many, the Dark King seeks the power the boy holds for his grand scheme to blanket the whole world in perpetual darkness. Even the 12 zodiac spirits have their own agenda that do not necessarily align with that of the Zodiac Prince.
Will he succeed where his predecessors have failed?
Will he still fight for the great city of Eldoria when he learns that a dark secret hides behind its walls? And that everything he was lead to believe is not necessarily true.

Excerpt:
Everything seemed to happen in slow motion. Uruk followed me, unaware of my plan. Reaching the statue, I impaled myself on the sword's pointy edge. The sharp pain of the blade piercing my stomach was excruciating, but I barely registered it. Blood poured from the wound, and for a moment, I wondered if the blood contract had failed.
"Did the blood contract work?" I thought, feeling my life drain away. "Is this how everything ends?" My vision darkened, and I felt a strange, peaceful calm. As my consciousness began to slip away, I whispered, "Solaris… arise."
A surge of immeasurable energy enveloped me like a warm blanket. A strong red flame covered my entire body, melting the sword and turning the ground beneath me to magma. I floated in the fiery red flames, feeling my wounds close. In a void space within my consciousness, I felt my soul merge with Solaris. When the transformation was complete, an enormous amount of energy coursed through my body. The zodiac symbol of the lion was etched on my right arm, signifying my newfound control over the Zodiac element of fire.
The Tiger has a funny story as well. Once, the Tiger was so confident in its strength that it challenged a large boulder to a wrestling match. It growled and pushed at the boulder for hours, not realizing it couldn't actually move the boulder. All the other animals watched in amusement. Regarding the Rat again, there's a story where the Rat made a tiny little house out of straw and leaves and declared it the grandest palace in the animal kingdom. The other animals couldn't help but laugh at its silly pride.
One funny zodiac story is about the Rat. In Chinese zodiac legend, the Rat was very clever. It tricked the Ox into carrying it across the river to the race for the zodiac order. Just as they were about to reach the finish line, the Rat jumped off the Ox's back and got there first. Another story could be about the Monkey. The Monkey is known for its mischievousness. It once played a trick on the Tiger by making it believe there was a hidden treasure in a far - off cave, but when the Tiger reached there, it found nothing but a bunch of bananas left by the Monkey as a joke.
Well, in the zodiac short stories, the animals' personalities are often exaggerated in a funny way. For example, the Rabbit is always depicted as being a bit jumpy and nervous. In a story, when all the animals were playing hide - and - seek, the Rabbit was so jumpy that it hid in the most obvious place but still thought it was well - hidden because it was too nervous to think straight. This kind of over - the - top portrayal of their traits is really humorous.
Sure. For example, in Chinese zodiac, there is a story about the rat and the cat. Supposedly, the cat asked the rat to wake it up for an important meeting to decide the zodiac order. But the naughty rat didn't and went alone, that's why the cat missed out and has been chasing the rat ever since.
Well, in Western zodiac, there's a story about Leo. It is said that Leo represents the king of the jungle. Once upon a time, Leo was too proud of his strength and status. One day, he challenged the Sun to a contest. But the Sun just smiled and shone brighter, making Leo realize his place. It's a funny story about pride and self - discovery.
Sure. Here is one about the Rat. Once upon a time, all the animals were preparing for a big race to determine the order of the zodiac. The Rat was very clever. It made a deal with the Ox, saying it could sit on the Ox's back during the race. As they neared the finish line, the Rat jumped off and crossed first, leaving the Ox in second place. It was a funny display of the Rat's cunning nature.
Cancer is known for being home - loving. A Cancer once brought his whole bedroom setup to a camping trip. He had his favorite pillow, a small lamp, and even a little rug. His friends were amused by how he tried to make the campsite feel like home. He said he couldn't sleep without his home comforts. It was really a funny sight to see him trying to set up all these things in the middle of the woods.
Well, a Taurus story. Taurus loves food. There was a Taurus at a buffet. He piled his plate so high with food that it was like a small mountain. When he went to sit down, some of the food even fell off the plate. His friends couldn't stop laughing at his eagerness to get all the delicious food.
In Western zodiac, there's a story about Aries. Aries is known as the ram. Legend has it that a ram with golden fleece was very special. It was so full of energy and a bit clumsy in its eagerness, like when it tried to jump over a fence to show off but got its horns stuck. It was a really funny sight.
The origin stories of the Zodiac are complex and vary across different cultures. In Western astrology, it has roots in ancient Babylonian astronomy. They divided the sky into 12 equal parts which corresponded to the 12 months. Each part was associated with certain constellations and characteristics. For example, Aries was associated with new beginnings as it was the first sign in the cycle, and it was related to the time of year when spring began in the Northern Hemisphere.
