Benedictus Elijah Ashwood is a former soldier who has survived many deadly missions while serving his country. But he always wanted more for himself. He desired to become someone that could be remembered long after he was gone. His life both before and after completing his service with the military was nothing really to speak about. It was bland, boring, and he hated it. Then one day, Gods from another world had come informing him and a hundred others that the Gods of Earth had abandoned them due to how humans of the modern age were depraved, greedy, and had shunned anything to do with the divine. Without the protection of any Gods, Earth would soon start falling prey to more evil wicked beings from some of the outer realms, such as the demons of Hell or the eldritch abominations of the Elder Realm. However, these foreign Gods gave Benedictus and 99 other humans a chance to participate in a much larger event called the Trial of Dead Gods. They would essentially be transported to a world that is more like a video game with the goal of leveling up. As it would allow them to passively take in more of the leftover power from several dead Gods whose bodies had long since been slain and become a part of the world, he would be sent to. They would be essentially competing against 900 other people that have been given similar offers from other worlds without Gods throughout the universe. The first 10 to reach a high enough level to ascend to godhood would be the victors of the trial. Everyone else would either return a failure or die during the trial. Seeing this as his chance to obtain his lifelong dream, he more than happily accepted. He was transported to this new world where he would now begin his journey towards godhood, where he would become a legend.
