The Gospel of Luke

The Gospel of Luke

The Gospel according to Luke is the first part of a two-volume work that continues the biblical history of God’s dealings with humanity found in the Old Testament, showing how God’s promises to Israel have been fulfilled in Jesus and how the salvation promised to Israel and accomplished by Jesus has been extended to the Gentiles. The stated purpose of the two volumes is to provide Theophilus and others like him with certainty—assurance—about earlier instruction they have received. To accomplish his purpose, Luke shows that the preaching and teaching of the representatives of the early church are grounded in the preaching and teaching of Jesus, who during his historical ministry prepared his specially chosen followers and commissioned them to be witnesses to his resurrection and to all else that he did. This continuity between the historical ministry of Jesus and the ministry of the apostles is Luke’s way of guaranteeing the fidelity of the Church’s teaching to the teaching of Jesus. Luke’s story of Jesus and the church is dominated by a historical perspective. This history is first of all salvation history. God’s divine plan for human salvation was accomplished during the period of Jesus, who through the events of his life fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies, and this salvation is now extended to all humanity in the period of the church. This salvation history, moreover, is a part of human history. Luke relates the story of Jesus and the church to events in contemporary Palestinian history for, as Paul says, “this was not done in a corner.” Finally, Luke relates the story of Jesus and the church to contemporaneous church history. Luke is concerned with presenting Christianity as a legitimate form of worship in the Roman world, a religion that is capable of meeting the spiritual needs of a world empire like that of Rome. To this end, Luke depicts the Roman governor Pilate declaring Jesus innocent of any wrongdoing three times. At the same time Luke argues in Acts that Christianity is the logical development and proper fulfillment of Judaism and is therefore deserving of the same toleration and freedom traditionally accorded Judaism by Rome. The prominence given to the period of the church in the story has important consequences for Luke’s interpretation of the teachings of Jesus. By presenting the time of the church as a distinct phase of salvation history, Luke accordingly shifts the early Christian emphasis away from the expectation of an imminent parousia to the day-to-day concerns of the Christian community in the world. He does this in the gospel by regularly emphasizing the words “each day” in the sayings of Jesus. Although Luke still believes the parousia to be a reality that will come unexpectedly, he is more concerned with presenting the words and deeds of Jesus as guides for the conduct of Christian disciples in the interim period between the ascension and the parousia and with presenting Jesus himself as the model of Christian life and piety. Throughout the gospel, Luke calls upon the Christian disciple to identify with the master Jesus, who is caring and tender toward the poor and lowly, the outcast, the sinner, and the afflicted, toward all those who recognize their dependence on God, but who is severe toward the proud and self-righteous, and particularly toward those who place their material wealth before the service of God and his people. No gospel writer is more concerned than Luke with the mercy and compassion of Jesus. No gospel writer is more concerned with the role of the Spirit in the life of Jesus and the Christian disciple, with the importance of prayer, or with Jesus’ concern for women. While Jesus calls all humanity to repent, he is particularly demanding of those who would be his disciples. Of them he demands absolute and total detachment from family and material possessions. To all who respond in faith and repentance to the word Jesus preaches, he brings salvation and peace and life.

Born into a life of financial struggles, Leia was sent to live with her aunts at birth, while her parents worked tirelessly to make ends meet. But now, with her father's health in decline and her mother forced into prostitution to make a living, Leia found herself in a desperate situation as she came back finally after an accident with her aunt after they treated her badly. She hid her true self from the world, including her new best friend Mia, who came from a life of luxury and excess. Mia's family was everything Leia's was not - wealthy, influential, and respected. As Leia and Mia's friendship blossomed, Leia found herself torn between her loyalty to her new friend and the secrets she kept hidden. By day, she was a bright and ambitious student, but by night, she was forced to sell herself to make ends meet. The shame and frustration of her situation weighed heavily on her shoulders, and she couldn't bear the thought of Mia discovering her true reality. But fate had other plans. One fateful night, Leia found herself in the arms of a man she had never met before - Mia's father, Rael. The encounter was accidental, but the consequences would be devastating. Leia's world was turned upside down as she struggled to reconcile her feelings of guilt and shame with the secrets she kept hidden. Little did she know, her life was about to become even more complicated. Leia stood at a crossroads, torn between revealing the truth to Mia and risking their precious friendship, or continuing her secret affair with Rael, Mia's father. But when she chose to move on, her mother's venomous words cut deep, exposing the harsh realities of her life. Her mother's hatred and resentment towards her stemmed from their impoverished background and Leia's inability to provide for herself. With a newfound sense of desperation, Leia turned to Rael as a means of survival, hiding their relationship from Mia and the rest of the world. But as she became entangled in this web of secrets, she found herself falling for Mia's brother, Dale. The complication was suffocating - Leia was caught between her loyalty to Mia, her desire for Rael, and her growing feelings for Dale. As the truth threatened to surface, Leia's world began to unravel. She was trapped in a cycle of lies and deceit, with no clear escape. Her relationships with the people she cared about most were built on shaky ground, and the consequences of her actions loomed large. Would Leia find a way to break free from this toxic cycle, or would she become forever entangled in the secrets and lies that had come to define her life? In a desperate attempt to escape the chaos, Leia made a choice that would haunt her forever. She forsake Dale, the man she truly loved, and agreed to marry his father, Rael. Forsaking her friendship, she’ll do anything for money. As she stood at the altar, gazing into Rael's eyes, Leia's heart screamed in protest. Dale, the man she had denied, looked on in anguish, his eyes filled with tears of sorrow and betrayal. And as Leia became Mia’s step mother, it was like the two was drawn into a battle ground and even when she was offered money by Mia and Dale to leave their father. Journey of Luke

Journey of Luke

The book follows the story of the main character Luke, choosing to seal his memories and start his life as a slave. He must overcome the challenges to rise to power and perhaps learn about his past. __________________________________________ Aiming for a slowish harem building with some r18 scenes sprinkled in. Aiming for a more “realistic” story (like how people behave), you'll see after the first couple of chapters. Hopefully, it doesn't come off as too corny or cringy. There will be a system with a story behind it as we get further. Trying to add some unique elements as well, first one won't be till like chapter 20ish. A fantasy-style world with a leveling system, minor kingdom-building, and of course some smut for the pals. Looking for any sort of feedback really no matter how brutal. It's my first time writing so expecting a lot of rookie mistakes if not all of them.

How would the relationship between Luke and Leia be different in 'Luke and Leia raised together fanfiction'?
3 answers
2024-12-02 05:16
The relationship would likely be more sibling - like from the start. In the original story, they didn't know they were siblings for a long time. But in this fanfiction, they'd grow up with that knowledge. So, they'd be more protective of each other right away and have a deeper understanding of each other's quirks and abilities.

One idea could be that Ahsoka tells them stories about their father, Anakin Skywalker. She could share the good times she had with him, like their adventures together. This would give Luke and Leia a more personal connection to their father before they fully understand their heritage.
