A thousand years ago, there was a discovery on one of its islands. There was a decay that absorbs everything into darkness and nothingness. This was called the Plague of Noctis. They discovered a way to contain the Plague of Noctis, they made barrier that released a continuous supply of flames. It kept the plague at bay. A thousand years later, the Plague of Noctis seeped through the barrier and rendered it useless. — A few years later a malnourished boy who lives in the Bocht, a dead zone, lost his parents on his 14th Birthday; he watched his father burn in front of his eyes. Unfortunately, he also lost his sight and was bleeding to death. In a turn of events, he met an old man that saved him from dying and granted him a mysterious system.
