How does Racism Appear in Historical Romance Novels?

Racism in these novels may be seen in the power dynamics. White characters usually hold all the power and influence, while characters of color are powerless. This inaccurate portrayal is a form of racism that needs to be addressed.

It can show up in character descriptions. For instance, if non - white characters are always described as having 'exotic' features in a way that objectifies them. This is a form of racism.
