In a far - off land, there was a special excavator. This excavator was bright yellow and had a big smiley face painted on it. At the end of each day, the excavator would make its way to a cozy corner of the construction yard. The workers would cover it with a big tarp to keep it dry at night. As it got dark, the excavator would start to feel sleepy. It would think about the new foundation it had dug that day and how important its job was. It would listen to the soft sounds of the night, like the wind blowing through the nearby trees. Then, gradually, it would drift off to sleep, waiting for the morning sun to wake it up for another day of work.
There was an excavator called Bob. Every day, Bob was busy at work in a big quarry. But as bedtime approached, Bob would leave the quarry and head towards the shed. The stars started to come out as he rumbled along. In the shed, he was surrounded by his friends, the bulldozer and the crane. They would all tell stories of their day. Bob would talk about how he dug out a huge boulder that day. Then, as the night grew darker, Bob's engine would slow down, and he would fall asleep, his metal body resting peacefully until the next day's work.
Once upon a time, there was a little excavator named Eddie. Eddie worked hard all day on the construction site, digging holes and moving dirt. When the sun went down, Eddie was tired. He drove slowly back to the garage, which was like his little home. The other machines were already quiet, and Eddie parked himself in his corner. He thought about all the fun things he did during the day, like making a big pile of sand for the kids to play in. As he closed his eyes, he dreamed of a world where he could dig to the moon. And soon, Eddie was fast asleep.
