The consequences of the brave deed can be a very interesting element. If a person's brave act leads to a major change in a community, like saving a historical building which then becomes a tourist attraction, it gives the story more depth. Also, the way the character overcomes obstacles during the brave deed, whether it's physical or mental, can make the story captivating. For instance, a person with a broken leg still manages to run into a collapsing building to rescue a trapped person by using his strong willpower.
One element is the character's internal struggle. For example, if a person is afraid of heights but still climbs a tall building to save someone. The conflict between their fear and their sense of duty makes the story engaging.
