Good ideas for a mystery story
Here's another good idea. A valuable painting is stolen from a high - security museum. The security cameras seem to have malfunctioned at the exact time of the theft. The detective in charge of the case starts to suspect that it was an inside job. He begins to investigate the museum staff, one by one. He finds out that one of the curators has a huge debt and a sudden change in behavior. But as he gets closer to the curator, more strange things start to happen, like anonymous threats and false leads, which makes the mystery even deeper.
One idea could be a missing heirloom. The story could start with an old family's most prized possession disappearing overnight. The main character, a young detective, could be hired to solve the mystery. He or she then discovers strange footprints around the scene and some cryptic notes left behind.
