What are some of the 'weird new testament stories'?

One of the really strange Old Testament stories is that of Jonah and the whale. Jonah was told by God to go to Nineveh, but he tried to run away by boarding a ship. Then a huge storm came, and the sailors threw Jonah overboard, and he was swallowed by a large fish (commonly thought of as a whale). He spent three days and three nights in the belly of the fish before being spat out onto dry land.

For the Ananias and Sapphira story, it could be about the importance of honesty and integrity in the community. It was a way to show that in the early Christian group, lying was not tolerated and had serious consequences. It also shows that God is all - knowing and falsehood cannot be hidden. The early believers needed to be pure in heart and action.

The resurrection of Jesus is perhaps the most significant and 'crazy' story. After his crucifixion, he rose from the dead. This event is central to Christian faith and challenges the limits of what people might expect in the physical world.

One 'weird new story' could be about a town where all the cats suddenly started to act like dogs. Another might be a story of a tree that started to grow fluorescent leaves for no apparent reason. There could also be a story about a person who woke up one day with the ability to understand the language of birds.
