Who could be the main character in a 'Star Wars Return of an Empire' fanfiction?

It could be a young Imperial officer who starts to question the Empire's extreme measures for revenge. This character might see the wrong in what the Empire is doing and eventually defect to the Rebellion.

An engineer or scientist who was involved in the creation of the clones could be the main character. They could have a change of heart and try to find a way to give the clones more freedom and individuality. Obviously, Luke Skywalker could still be a main character. He has a lot of potential for further development as he continues to grow as a Jedi Master.
