A short horror story could be about a person who keeps having the same nightmare of being trapped in a dark cellar with no way out. When they finally wake up, they find marks on their body as if they had really been in that terrifying place.
There was a story where a person was looking for a used car on Craigslist. They found a great deal on a car that looked perfect in the pictures. When they went to meet the seller, the location was an old, abandoned garage on the outskirts of town. The seller was acting really strange, mumbling to himself and constantly looking around nervously. As the buyer got closer to the car, they noticed strange scratches on the inside of the windows, as if someone had been trying to get out. The buyer got so scared that they just ran away without looking back.
One real nosleep story is about a haunted house. A family moved in and strange things started to happen. Doors would open and close on their own, cold spots were everywhere. At night, they could hear whispers that seemed to come from nowhere. It was really terrifying.
Well, in some of the stories, there's a young detective who often stumbles upon the creepy situations. He's always trying to solve the mysteries behind the strange happenings.
There might be a story of a cursed object. For example, a doll that seemed to move on its own. People who owned it reported feeling a sense of dread and unease. It was said that bad things happened to those who kept the doll in their homes for too long.
A scary night story? Well, Tom was camping in the mountains. At night, he heard a loud roar. He thought it was a bear at first. He sat up in his tent, his heart pounding. Then, he saw a strange mist seeping into his tent. It had a foul smell. As the mist thickened, he could make out shapes in it, like distorted faces. He grabbed his backpack and ran out of the tent, not stopping until he reached the nearest ranger station.
In a small, isolated village, there was a well that was said to be cursed. A curious traveler decided to look into it. As he peered down, he saw a reflection that wasn't his own. It was a distorted face with a menacing look. Suddenly, he felt a strong pull, as if something was trying to drag him into the well. He managed to break free and ran away, never looking back.
A girl I knew was house - sitting. At night, she felt a cold hand touch her shoulder while she was reading on the couch. There was no one else in the house. She immediately packed her things and left. Just thinking about it gives me chills.
It can make you feel really scared. Just the thought of the spooky things in those stories can send shivers down your spine.
For me, 'The Shining' by Stephen King is one that gives a lot of chills. The isolated hotel setting and the slow descent into madness of the main character are really spooky. Another is 'The Exorcist' by William Peter Blatty. The idea of demonic possession is always a terrifying concept. And 'Rosemary's Baby' by Ira Levin is also quite scary with its satanic undertones.
