How to come up with a compelling character for a novel?

Bell Cranel was rejected by every familia he tried to join until he met Hestia. In a few, he was rejected quite violently. And in one particular instance, he was thrown out and bashed his head against a wall. Well, that's apparently where I come in. Not sure how and why I'm here. Not even sure who 'I' really am at this point since Bell's memories are definitely clearer than 'mine'... But I guess we're doing this. Hopefully I've got some useful cheats. Maybe?

The miracle doctor, Xu Qing, accidentally fell into the water and died. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself having transmigrated into a farming novel. He looked up at Xu Qing pitifully. “Honey, it’s the effect of my family genes. I can’t control my genes from producing so many babies…” “Out! Get out now!” Xu Qing kicked him aside. Who knew that the man she picked up turned out to be the father of her children. Had she known, she would’ve left him to die in the corn field.

A story about a guy who gets 3 wishes and reincarnates in Legend of Korra as an earthbender prodigy. I always wanted to write fanfiction and the idea for this story kept popping up in my head so here we are. My main goal right now is to upload a chapter at least once a week and that becomes a lot harder when English isn't my first language.
