However, he later turned over a new leaf and visited the famous scholars Lu Ji and Lu Yun. He studied hard and became a minister during the Western Jin Dynasty. He had many achievements in government affairs, such as pacifying the Rong and Di tribes, defecting the Qiang, and solving a case that had been unresolved for thirty years. He had served as the prefect of Xinping, the prefect of Guanghan, and the censor. Zhou was famous for his upright character, but he was also ostracized because he offended powerful officials. In the end, he was sent to the northwest to suppress the rebellion of the Di and Qiang tribes, but unfortunately, he was killed on the battlefield. Zhou Chu was posthumously awarded the title of Pingxi General and posthumous title of filial piety. His story also left behind the allusion of "Zhou Chu getting rid of the three evils".
