Wang Guozhen (October 22, 1939-May 26, 2016), formerly known as Wang Mingyuan, was born in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. He was a poet, essayist, and scholar. He was known as an outstanding poet in the history of modern poetry. His poetry style was fresh and natural, expressing his love for life and his longing for the future. Mr. Wang Guozhen went to Japan to study literature and languages after receiving family education since childhood. In the 1960s, he began to publish poetry works and was hailed as one of the representatives of the "Minnan Poetry School." His poems have won many domestic and international literary awards, including the 1982 Poetry Weekly Poet of the Year Award, the 1985 Poetry Weekly Poet of the Year Award, and the 1997 Poetry Weekly Poet of the Year Award.
