Journey to the West was a rather long classical novel with a length of about 795 chapters and a total of about 8.5 million words. It was one of the Four Great Masterpieces of Chinese Literature and a classic in the history of Chinese literature. The Journey to the West tells the story of Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Monk Sand, and Tang Sanzang (also known as the "Journey to the West"), who went to the Western Heaven to obtain Buddhist scriptures after 81 difficulties. The story was complicated and contained many elements of fantasy adventures and myths and legends, so it was considered a very successful novel.
