The Water Margins was one of the classic Chinese novels. The author was the Ming Dynasty novelist Shi Naian. The novel used the story of 108 heroes gathering together to resist the oppression of the ruling class. It told the story of their uprising against the imperial court in Liangshan Lake, which was ultimately defeated and suppressed. The novel began with the establishment of Liangshan Lake, and through describing the daily lives, battle strategies, and interpersonal relationships of the heroes in Liangshan Lake, it revealed their character characteristics and moral values. Then, the novel gradually revealed the fate and inner struggle of these characters by describing the confrontation between Liang Shanpo and other rebel armies and the internal contradictions of the heroes. At the end of the novel, the heroes were suppressed by the imperial court. Most of them were executed, and a few were able to escape or surrender. In the end, they lived a miserable life. The novel used the whole process of the Liangshanpo uprising as the main line to show the theme of resistance against oppression in Chinese history. At the same time, it also integrated the content of history, politics, morality and many other aspects to become a classic work of Chinese classical novels.
