How long is the copyright protection period?

The term of protection of a copyright referred to the time limit for which the copyright was protected by law, or the effective period of the copyright. During the term of copyright, the copyright of the work was protected by law. When the term of copyright expired, the copyright would be lost, and the work would enter the public domain and no longer be protected by law. Our country separately provides for the period of protection of the personal rights and the property rights of a work. The right of authorization, the right of modification, and the right to protect the integrity of a work are permanently protected by law. The term of protection of the right of publication is the same as the term of protection of the property rights in copyright. After the death of an author, or the change or termination of a legal entity or non-legal entity, the author's right of authorization, right of modification, and right to protect the integrity of the work shall still be protected by the copyright law. There was a limit to the period of protection of a copyright. The duration of protection varied according to the nature of the copyright and the nature of the work: (1) If the author of the work is a citizen, the term of protection of the property rights of the work shall be the lifetime of the author plus 50 years after his death. After the death of the author, the term of protection shall begin on January 1 of the year following the author's death and expire on December 31 of the 50th year. (2) For works of legal persons or entities without legal personality, the term of protection for the right of publication, right of use and right of remuneration for works made for hire enjoyed by legal persons or entities without legal personality is 50 years. However, if the work has not been published within 50 years after the completion of its creation, the copyright law shall no longer protect it. (3) The term of protection for the right of publication, right of exploitation and right to remuneration of cinematography, television and video works and the copyright of photographic works shall be 50 years, ending on December 31 of the 50th year after the first publication of the work. However, if the work has not been published within 50 years after the completion of its creation, its copyright shall no longer be protected. (4) The term of protection for the right to publish, use, and receive remuneration of a work of collaboration shall be the lifetime of the author plus 50 years after his death. However, the calculation of 50 years shall start from the time of death of the last deceased author. (5) For works of unknown authors, the term of protection for the right to use and the right to receive remuneration shall be 50 years, ending on December 31 of the 50th year after the first publication of the work. However, once the author's identity was confirmed, the general provisions of the copyright law would apply. (6) The exclusive publishing right of the book publishing unit. The contract stipulated that the period of exclusive publishing rights enjoyed by the book publisher could not exceed 10 years, and the contract could be renewed upon expiration. (7) The term of protection of the right to use and the right to remuneration for a sound or video recording shall be 50 years, ending on December 31 of the 50th year after the first publication of the work. (8) The protection period of the right to use radio and television programs and the right to receive remuneration shall be 50 years, ending on December 31 of the 50th year after the broadcast.
