The Investiture of the Gods was a story in the ancient Chinese novel, The Investiture of the Gods. It described the story of King Wu of Zhou, the son of King Wen of Zhou, attacking the Shang Dynasty at the end of the Shang Dynasty. In the story, King Zhou, one of the vassal states at the end of the Shang Dynasty, was destroyed by King Wu of Zhou. King Zhou's favorite concubine, Daji, became the "demon concubine" fabricated by King Wu's strategists. She was described as the embodiment of a fox spirit. In order to help King Wu of Zhou gain the world, she did not hesitate to harm innocent people, causing a series of wars and incidents. In the story, Tongtian, one of the rulers of the late Shang Dynasty, was conferred the title of God by King Wu of Zhou. He and his disciples played an important role in the process of King Wu of Zhou's attack on the Shang Dynasty, including helping King Wu of Zhou obtain the treasures of the Shang Dynasty and defeating the army of the Shang Dynasty. After the death of King Wu of Zhou, the Master of Jie School, Tongtian, and his disciples became immortals on the Investiture of the Gods. They were arranged to enter different Investiture of the Gods and began their different paths of becoming gods. It should be noted that the Investiture of the Gods is a fictional story in ancient Chinese novels. There is no scientific basis for it. The gods and monsters in it are all fictional images and have nothing to do with religion and mythology in reality.
