" The Story of officialdom " was a satirical novel written by Feng Menglong, a novelist of the Ming Dynasty. It mainly told the story of the corrupt local government officials and the dark bureaucrats who used their power to cheat their superiors and deceive their subordinates, and even joined forces to enforce the law and suppress the people during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty.
