Regarding the use of punctuations in novels?

2024-09-05 07:41
Recently, I've been writing online novels, and I'd like to ask all the great gods about punctuations. Question 1: The usage of colons. (1) "Good morning, XX," XXX greeted when she saw XX walking towards her. "Good morning," replied XX with a smile. This was right. (2) "Are you free today?" XXX asked. "Of course." XX nodded. Should I use a colon or a commas here? [Question 2: It's about the characters in the novel, but the content is too long and needs to be divided into sections. How do I use the "" sign here?] (1) "…" XXX explained. The content here is too long and needs to be divided into sections. This was the next paragraph. (2) "…" XXX explained. Here, pay attention to the differences. (There's one less ")…" Which application was correct? There were a lot of questions this time, and they were a little complicated. Please answer them. Thank you, everyone.

The use of punctuations in a novel is a very important problem because it can provide readers with more accurate and clear information and also improve the legibility and cohesiveness of the novel. The following are some suggestions for the use of punctuations in novels: Period: A period is used to end a paragraph to emphasize the key information to help the reader quickly understand the ending of the story. For example: " They finally got married. On that day, they came to this beautiful coastal city." 2. Use quote marks to quote from other people's words, articles, or stories to highlight the source or important information of the story. For example: "He told me that when he was young, he once went to a mysterious mountain. There was a stone statue there, and it was said that there was a treasure hidden inside." 3. Comma: Commas are used to separate different sentences or passages to enhance the legibility and cohesiveness of the article. For example: " He told me that he's going on a vacation to relax." " They decided to watch a movie to celebrate their anniversary." Colon: Colons are used to emphasize or introduce new important information to make the article clearer. For example: "He told me the secret could have a major impact on his career." 5. Semicolon: A semi-colon is used to emphasize important information at the end of a paragraph to help readers quickly understand the end of the article. For example: " He told me that they had found the treasure and were going to bring it back to their hometown." The use of punctuations in a novel should be decided according to the plot and needs to enhance the legibility and accuracy of the article.

The Novel's Professor

The Novel's Professor

A happy and fulfilled life, everyone wanted that. Rio was no exception, he too wanted to feel joy and fulfillment. But how many actually achieved that? He didn't know, but he knew that he was not part of those. Rio, a part time editor of a webnovel called, The Last Stand, transmigrated inside the world of the novel. Not as a main character, nor as a villain, not even a student. But as a professor. A simple extra, professor that was never even mentioned in the story. Through some circumstances, he was the mentor of the main cast of characters. Armed with knowledge of the future, treasures of the world, and skills of different origins. He would raise these students to their utmost as early as possible. He felt that there would be no problem. However, as time marches forward he realizes everything was not as simple as he thought. The plot, or the future, as he knew it was going further down the rails. The body he occupied had a mysterious identity. A higher existence watches over him. Realizing the implications, he gave up on staying low key and unknown. He will strive, live, and survive admist this world of cruelty. A world set in a modern futuristic setting where cults roam free, capitalism corruption rises, demons and other races exist. However, even if he survived and lived, will he even feel happinness and fulfillment? He didn't know, but he will live still. — The MC in this story might feel light hearted at first, but as the story progresses he will become more darker. The characters might seem like gary stuish, but don't worry there are plenty of reasons for that. The story does not just focus on demons, but more so on other humans. I have no plans to make this a harem story, and usual super MC. Romance is bleak, I, so far, have no intention on making a lovey dovey scene. Expect daily updates, as I upload a chapter per day. — The cover art is not mine, if the artist has any intent or wishes to take it down please inform me immediately and proper action will take effect.
